Another user has been added to the list

Wolvaccine has been missing for 7-8 days and it isn't normal for him to be off for that long.

Are you ok mate? Holiday? We need a welfare check!

G'day

I have a new job so my usual time and hours on here are not going to be the same.

As I never bother with forums and the like in my personal time it will limit the time I devote here going forward. New job is not the kind I can bum around waiting for shit to break to fix.

Its been a funny few years on here. But with the new job and my commitment to shun social media shit in any personal time I won't be around much I'd say.

I haven't taken a single day of annual leave in 5 years.   My job gave 5 weeks per year and with long service leave on top I walked out a rich man lol

Hopefully I get to take a break in September. Wife wants to go to China to visit her family. If you don't hear anything from me after then at all, assume I am arbitrarily detained and on a list for organ donation. Someone in the CCP might want a new heart or liver you know

Um... Okay. Not quite as planned but you can't have a space plan without blowing up a few rockets.

And he calls it a success! Well we all knew Elon was rather divorced from reality..... In all seriousness I bet behind the scenes he is fuming - this whole 'well that was a success and we learned a lot for our next launch!' Is just him hoping the stock price doesn't take a dive

The joys of the 2nd amendment in all its bastardised glory. Are you really better of and safer with all those guns?

The guns seem to turn you guys into primitive animals. If your first instinct is to shoot some guy you dont know ringing your doorbell or a lady who pulled into your driveway you didn't expect or a girl who entered the wrong car by mistake or a child whose ball went over your yard, you sure dont seem like you feel safe. You seem like you live in perpetual fear

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW!!!

I watched every episode (except the last I'm waiting for) back to back so I had no 'cliffhangers' :)

I had the Borg figured before the reveal but I didn't figure what they were doing with the transporter tech

They are certainly an over used villain at this point - I think it would have been cooler to use those alien critters from TNG season 1 episode 'Conspiracy'. That would have been a cool pay off. Honestly I bet many fans were hoping that story arc could get closed.

Ro Laren was a nice surprise - and unlike Hugh whose only point was to pointlessly kill off a fan service character - or Icheb - she and Picard resolved their feelings and she didn't die in vain.

But also, Tuvok better be OK!

The first 2 seasons set the bar lower than the depths of hell so it wasn't hard to make this one serviceable. I only wish that in the future they learn what the hell a light bulb is so they can use it. The bridge (and everywhere else really) of these new snazzy ships are so bleak, dark and depressing. When they step on the bridge of the Enterprise D in the 9th episode it looked so nice. And as Picard said 'THE CARPET!'

Season 3 of Picard is fucking brilliant

Finally, a decent season that is enjoyable to watch, well written and well acted. It doesn't have self contained episodes but the story is interesting and the pacing is good. Kind of like Season 3 of 'Enterprise' with the Xindi story arc. Those weren't self contained (a few stand alone ones were thrown in there) but it was a pretty fun season to watch

I waited until I could binge all the episodes at once - well just waiting for the last one to stream this Friday

But if you gave up because of the first 2 ultra shitty and boring seasons (who could blame you) - you can pretend those basically never existed and just watch this one. Perfect send off for The Next Generation and hopefully writers have got the message about what works - and what doesn't - and never give us shitty trek again

Can we all also appreciate how great Gates McFadden still looks at 74?  :o

Well yeah, if you focus on the guy that shot him for knocking on his door then it makes our country look insane. But you have to look at the big picture. Afterwards he went to three different houses to try to get someone to help him. Those people didn't shoot him.

I think it's just fair to point out that the takeaway here is that you only have a 25% chance of being shot for knocking on the wrong door.

Why did it take 3 houses? I hope it's because no one was home

Because the decent thing a human would do is render assistance to someone who is dying and clearly needs it. Did the person who shot him even call the police? Even if he thought his actions were justified you would think once he 'neutralised the threat' that he would report the incident.

The depravity of yankees. Next level

On another note, the way you Americans name your streets is messed up. Sort it out.

Here is another fuck up

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in the US after he allegedly shot and killed a 20-year-old woman as the car she was in mistakenly drove up the man's driveway.

Kaylin Gillis was with three other people in New York state on Saturday.

They accidentally drove into the driveway of Kevin Monahan in the town of Hebron, police say.

As the driver was leaving, Mr Monahan, 65, allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, hitting Ms Gillis.

"This is a very sad case of some young adults who were looking for a friend's house and ended up at this man's house who decided to come out with a firearm and discharge it," Washington Country Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy told a news conference.

The area is rural, and the driveways are poorly lit at night. None of the group had exited the vehicle or attempted to enter Mr Monahan's house before he allegedly opened fire, Mr Murphy said.

Pull into the wrong driveway? Shot dead

And as you know from vids I posted earlier about people spraying other cars with bullets through their own car in acts of road rage. You guys are animals. Running on primitive base instinct. That's probably putting it mildly

God bless America? I think he already damned it

Like seriously... what kind of fucked up person do you have to be to go "Yeah, black teen at my door?  Politely ringing the bell?  Best shoot him.  Then shoot him again if he twitches on the ground."

Just don't get the wrong address because in any sane society that would be considered grounds for opening fire with lethal weaponry.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-65307556

I remember a few years back going to Ireland, getting the directions wrong in the fog which included that the isolated house we were to stay in had the key in the door, I found a house with the key in the door and went in and there was an old couple sitting having tea.

I said, “I’m terribly sorry, I was looking for (the address).”
They said, “No bother love, it’s the next one about a hundred yards up the road on the right.”

I thanked them, apologised again, put the key on the side and left.

What is wrong with Europe that we can’t drum up a shoot out of such a flagrant breach of protocol?

What fun it must be to live in one that can.

I think you must have experienced what is called 'civilization'. A concept still foreign to America

As a kid wanting to earn pocket money I used to knock on almost every door in the suburb asking if they had any odd jobs to do. In America, knocking on a strangers door is rolling the dice with your life

Even going out for a jog can get you killed in America as some bored teenagers driving around in a car just shoot you in the back for fun as one unlucky Aussie found out a few years ago (well I guess he never found out, because he died)

To any American who may be the exception, rather than the rule - sorry, but your country is pretty fucked up.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Clearing the Muddle that is Jesus
« on: April 17, 2023, 07:01:41 AM »
Atheists question whether or not Jesus even existed

Also the question whether religious people can have a relationship with non religious people is for the religious. Most religious people are pretty stuck up and intolerant. Then you have Islam, which dictates that they can not even be buried at the same area as non Islamic people. So a Islamic husband and a Christian wife? Forbidden to be buried together.

Most atheists or agnostics dont give a shit. Laid back and not allowing millennia old values dictate how they live their life or think. We live in an age where we dont need 'Gods' to explain our world. If a ship is lost at sea in a storm, do we blame Neptune? if there is a raging thunderstorm outside do we say it's Thor? The time will come when the Abrahamic God will have had its day and people wont throw away their lives and freedom to such fables. Much the same way people used to believe in Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Aztec Gods and so forth

Is there a creator of the universe? Maybe. But humans thousands of years ago who had virtually zero understanding of their place in the universe (and evidenced by the writings, clearly the 'Gods' that spoke to them didn't either) didn't figure it out.

People dont need 'Gods' to behave in a moral and civilised manner. And judging by the behaviour of some of the Popes throughout history, clearly religion certainly help them to be all that good of spirit to their fellow people either.

I would bet with religion out of the way, we would be a far more tolerant and peaceful society. It is religion which allowed a suffocating patriarchy. Religion allowed man to hit, beat and rape his wife. Religion allowed for the discrimination and abuse of gay people. Or of people born out of wedlock. It is religion which has allowed so much hate and intolerance to people with different ideas. Religion kept us from advancing our knowledge in science when they condemned, arrested and jailed people who dare speak the truth (eg Galileo). Religion allowed the 'burning of witches' etc. I could go on

Anyway, the sooner the world drops the religious bullshit - everywhere and every BS faith/cult, the better. Religion is good for ideas to make fictional movies. Beyond that, it's bullshit. Why enslave yourself - and others - to such nonsense.

John Campbell is a muppet.

Dr Susan Oliver on YouTube as well as being Australian (this topic title is called AUSTRALIA after all), she actually knows her stuff and is far more a reliable source of information  than a pompous muppet who has done enormous damage to health care and medical science - all to line his pockets with youtube ad revenue. What a fucktard

John Campbell to begin with, was very good. But he found that spouting bullshit and pandering to the fears of antivaxxers would make him much more wealthy. Started at least with the plugging of ivermectin bullshit. A real net negative to the world at large. A POS who if never born, the world would be a better place

THAT is John Campbells legacy. He probably would have been better off getting knocked off before 2020 when he could have died a hero. Now he will die a villain.

Here is a video by Susan Oliver and it really highlights how absolutely STUPID John Campbell thinks the intelligence of his audience is. The thing is though, judging by people like you, he is probably right LOL

Child marriages are still a problem. Even in the US

https://www.cfr.org/blog/its-time-end-child-marriage-united-states

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_marriage_in_the_United_States
Quote
Unchained At Last, a non-profit advocacy group dedicated to ending child marriage in the United States, found that only 14% of the child marriages conducted from 2000 to 2010 were between two children marrying each other.[14] In the other 86% of cases, child marriages are between a minor and an adult.[29] In terms of spousal age, the majority of those surveyed, about 60%, reported being 18–20 years old. Less than 3% reported being over 29 years of age.[32] In over 400 cases, the adult was aged over 40. And in 31 cases, they were over 60.

According to data compiled by Anjali Tsui, Dan Nolan, and Chris Amico, who looked at almost 200,000 cases of child marriage from 2000-2015:

67% of the children were aged 17.
29% of the children were aged 16.
4% of the children were aged 15.
Less than 1% of the children were aged 14 and under.
There were 51 cases of 13-year-olds getting married, and 6 cases of 12-year-olds getting married.

Extreme examples include a case in 2010 in Idaho, where a 65-year-old man married a 17-year-old girl. In Alabama, a 74-year-old man married a 14-year-old girl, though the state has since raised its minimum age to 16.[32] According to Unchained At Last, the youngest girls to marry in 2000–2010 were three 10-year-old girls in Tennessee who married men aged 24, 25, and 31 in 2001. The youngest boy to marry was an 11-year-old, also in Tennessee, who married a 27-year-old woman in 2006.

Perhaps things have tightened up since but the fact that in America that 12 year olds were getting married in the years between 2000-2015 is pretty abhorrent. And an 11 year old boy to a 27 year old woman? What the actual FUCK?

Post ended up being too long to post and got a 503 error if I included this quote!

Look, I'm okay with the 'free the nipple' movement lol. We except obese men with manboobs flopping them out after all.....

As for bathrooms, most children who use them on their own would be in places like schools etc. I personally take mine to any public toilet if they need to use them.

But lets say we snap our fingers and 'poof!'. Every bathroom and change room was unisex. Which sex will be the most at risk in a high school / college setting?

There is a power play you ignore here. Statistically, females are more at risk of violence from men then men are from women. I'm not saying men are never victims - they are. Everything has to be based on its merits. But it would be foolish for society to impose on women having them naked with naked men - and to hell with their own feelings about that.

You are basically advocating a society in which they can not participate in if they dont feel comfortable about something. Whether that's through their culture, religion or life experience. So if a woman wants to go to the gym without being hit on, gawked at or harassed - too bad. Female only gyms are banned and she has to go to one where she knows she will be harassed. Want to relax in a spa naked without sharing the water with a bunch of dribbling schlongs? Buy your own spa (good luck affording one). No more businesses to accommodate your desire

Then you have all sorts of issues with religion and cultures in our multi cultural countries that you take a steaming dump on. Sure - I believe their faith and God and some of their rules are over the top and stupid. But we are a cultured species that have a lot of differences after all. Sometimes a middle ground has to be found. It wont be a solution - but then these are issues in which there isn't any 'one size fits all' solution

Men and women are different. They can be different and you can still treat them equally and with dignity and respect - but you cant pretend they are the same. You cant pretend they think the same. You cant pretend that they feel the same. And you cant pretend they are born and live through the same challenges.

This gym seems not to have faced legal hurdles boasting about its male only membership
https://www.theleader.com.au/story/3372713/its-hardcore-new-gym-opens-for-men-only/

Here's another
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/inside-men-only-gym-raising-27270518

On that subject, you have your opinion on the subject and I have mine. I dont think yours is wrong - just a few decades 'ahead' of the times. I hope one day the world can be less hung up on this issue - but that's not a change that will happen overnight. Give it a few generations - and of course, religion will have had to have had its day. No more Gods dictating how we should live our life (eg Abrahamic faiths).

On the subject of men and women in sports - well unless we want podiums filled with basically only men, we should keep things segregated

I mean, we BAN for the use of any drug that may even give a hint of shaving miliseconds of time in a race. Or even if you were busted with a diuretic in the system which does fuck all to your performance but could have been used to hide something illicit

But then you want to pit the likes of women in say the 100/400m sprint against the likes of say Usain Bolt? In what universe will any woman lined up at the start of the race ever think they have a chance of coming first? Or any winning position?

You think women will want to even join sports if they know they have no chance? Or if their safety is severely compromised compared with their male counterparts? You would find participation of women in sport will be drastically reduced if they are forced into competitions where the odds are massively stacked against them.

Also spectators would get bored real quick. It would not be interesting to continuously watch a sport and already know the likely outcome before play has even started. So that's revenue that would dry up. So would betting agencies (which would probably be a good thing come to think of it lol)

You do already have sports which have it mixed where there is no issue or advantage to sex. And as far as I know, even things like a karate tournament you can have females fight males. My own instructors daughter did this and she beat the shit out of them. In the dojo there is no problem with males and females sparring either.

But hey, lets agree to disagree. That's the enlightened thing to do in a situation where neither party will budge on their position :)

It begs several questions that kinda lead in different directions.

How is a low-level member of the national guard able to get his hands on information of this kind? In other words, how shit are the safeguards on US intelligence material, (oxymoron intended).

Places that hold highly sensitive materials can be accessed by even the most dimwitted cleaner or contractor that might come in do do some painting or electrical work etc. It's one thing to have a policy that keeps desks and offices of such materials locked away and out of sight but its another that these are actually enforced.

Of course, no one dare speak out against Trump taking home physical copies of top secret classified documents and those such as only to be held in a SCIF (which his residence was clearly not certified as one)

In a way it's surprising this doesn't happen more often. And every country in this 5 eyes alliance should be squirming that their sensitive intelligence and secrets is at the whim of another countries standards of safe guarding

Technology, Science & Alt Science / Re: What is a woman?
« on: April 14, 2023, 04:36:51 AM »
Women in this world, need and appreciate 'safe spaces'. Female only gyms, spas, safe houses etc. Not every woman should be forced to have men impose themselves in their space simply because the man wants to leer at them. Men have them too and there is nothing wrong with that
And I oppose this idea because it is incredibly sexist and insulting to all men.
Not all men are going to leer at women, and plenty of women will leer at women.
There are also men only spaces too. It isn't insulting to all women

Nothing stopping men from opening 'men only' gyms (which given the shitty TikTok trend of women calling out any guy that offers help or glances as they pass them as perverts who should be jailed and cancelled - might be a good idea). Weird they have no problem posting themselves working out in their tight fitting lycra to millions of people online lol

Quote from: JackBlack
But your objection with women's spas isn't even that. Your objection is instead focusing on the woman seeing a man naked. If she doesn't want to see, why doesn't she look away?

Actually, it's more the idea that she would be uncomfortable with a strange men seeing her naked. She's allowed to feel uncomfortable about that. Even if you think it's a pointless 'hang up' to have, maybe she has had bad experiences in the past or is in no mood to have naked men dripping cum out their stiffys in the same water as she's in. I mean the point of these places is to relax right? If she's comfortable being around naked women and naked women being around her, so what?

If you had a daughter would you be comfortable with random men following her into a bathroom because a persons biolgoical sex shouldn't be an issue? Maybe it shouldn't but this is a day and age where it currently is. Maybe it's something society will eventually work toward but it's going to take many decades and for most men to stop behaving like animals before that could work.

Quote from: JackBlack
I would say it is quite simple, if you don't want strangers seeing you naked, then you shouldn't be naked in front of strangers; likewise, if you don't want to see strangers naked, then you should either look away or not go to places where strangers will be naked. Either way, sex shouldn't matter.
It would be nice if it didn't matter and there are places that exist where it doesn't, but there are also a lot of people to which it does matter. Would you expect a woman rape survivor to feel comfortable around naked men hitting on her while she herself is naked? Maybe she wants to go to a spa and relax and on going to the spa, her expectation is that no males will be present while she is obviously going to be vulnerable.

I've been to one of those spas when I was in Korea and if there were naked women everywhere, I'd have felt pretty embarrassed because at the end of the day, I cant fight biology. I'd be walking around sporting a massive boner lol. I'm a guy, it cant be helped!

Also remember countries like South Korea are still quite patriarchal in nature and they have a lot of problems with guys doing stupid shit to women like hidden cameras and shit. Women have good reason to not want random guys seeing them naked - hence the sex segregation

I guess these business also dont want to be renowned for a place where people go for a cheap place to hook up and fuck around in.

Childbirth is free in Australia

Also the complications of my second born to keep him alive when he was born would have cost several hundred thousand dollars. My unborn sons decision to take a dump and aspirate it in the womb prior to being born gave him Respitory Distress Syndrome. My sons life was saved and I paid $0

Americas health care system is shit.
Jokes on you, Norway pays US to have kids.

Our government did that once. But that invited a lot of teens to see babies as a cash cow unaware the responsibilities of looking after them would far outweigh the $3000 they would get. Especially as they would just be single mums, hopping from one bed to another just for the cash for the baby at the end. It was a thing

Nowadays you get far less in a lump sum and get lots of little tax breaks and offsets instead. So the government supports you but not in a way that you can splurge it all on nonsense and not the baby it was intended for

You must have a picture in your mind about how you believe the world to work if you actually believe it. You must be able to explain it if you have any conviction in that belief.

Otherwise why not just say 'I dont know how it works but I simply dont believe it is as we are told'

You can say a wall of text but be so vague it really doesn't mean anything. It only reveals you are trying to make it up as you go and are just trolling. So why do you do that? Especially with your BS explanations about how and what auroras are. You could use Space Cowgirls of bioluminescent shrimps / creatures floating high in the sky. That explanation could work. We see them in the oceans too. And you would never have had to introduce the stupid north/south direction problem either.

In your attempt to be creative and sound like you know more than anyone else, you only highlight your ignorance and trolling

So here is some advice for your next trolling effort. The KISS rule
