I have a friend who is a police officer.  Known him for a long time. His positions on most things were generally more to the left than mine.

2016 rolls around and he votes for Trump.   His reason was that he thought Trump was friendlier to cops and Obama and by extension Clinton were hostile to cops. Everything he believed in took a back seat to this one issue.

Now in 2024 we have situations like this https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/02/20/alabama-supreme-court-ivf-embryos/ which might find it's way to the Supreme Court. There's a strong possibility that if Trump is elected that we'll have a nationwide abortion ban. But this possibility just doesn't move the single issue voters.

The democrats will probably do great in this election. Their base is ginned up on abortion and fear of Trump. It's Biden who isn't looking so good.

But Biden isn't entirely doomed. He could turn things around. His team could get him hopped up on meth,steroids, Adderall, maybe some bath salts. If it doesn't help him win the debate it may make him hulk out and eat Trump's face.

As far as I understand, pre-Trump, the president was a representative of his/her party’s ethos, therefore whether I actually like the figurehead or not, if the policies they espouse are more inline with my views, viola!

It impressed Bom (low bar), but I’m just reminded of your insistence that you aren’t a single-issue voter, but the inference being he gets a free ride on his objectional attitudes/rapey behaviour because men in dresses isn’t part of MAGA-land.
To reiterate, (because I don’t think you read all I put, and only remember the triggers), I don’t think biological males should be in women’s prisons, or that juveniles should be tampered with, any surgeries should be put off until at least 20 years old.
But while this is important, it’s a statistically minority problem, if you are willing to let the world go to shit and your children die in droves because Trump “knows what a pussy is”, then you are right about me not caring what you say.

So, doesn't that make you a single issue voter? You keep repeating the same dumb shit about Vivek, that he thinks climate change is a hoax, when what he said is that he does believe climate change is happening, and that humans are responsible, but the response to climate change is a hoax. That's fine, of course. Everyone has issues they think are important. I just feel that if they will lie about basic biology, then they will lie about anything. The gendershit is important to me, because I am paying attention to it. I see it as more than just the direct impact it has on women and children right now, I see how it has allowed govt and institutions to stifle free speech. I see how all that is allowing the medical industrial complex to get away with modern day lobotomies, with the blessing of the ruling elite.

We don't really have two parties in the US, we have a uniparty. They both serve corporate interests. They try to divide us up so we'll be against each other, while they pocket the profits. The media is part of the establishment. The leftish media bubble tells the Dem voters what to think, and the rightish media bubble tells the Rep voters what to think, and we all pretend we're informed on the issues, and anyone who disagrees should be ridiculed. It is a toxic environment.

Well, you are right and wrong, yes they deny climate change, including Vivek (twice) here (https://www.politico.com/news/2023/08/23/candidates-clash-over-climate-change-00112637), I bet he may have tried to wriggle off that hook because he got booed and he shows all the flip-flopping skills you would expect of a politician, but he said it, not the response is a hoax but the climate change agenda. This is the republican view because oil.
As for the science and my beliefs, it’s not just climate change but the degradation of the whole environment, covid response all of it.
But the climate change question is liable to harm a shit ton more people than gender reassignment however terrible it is, and for that reason I hold it as more important.
