I watched a bit of the convention last night. I wanted to hear Vance's speech, because I really don't know much about him. I flipped around the channels between speeches, and the tone of the coverage has changed quite a bit since Monday. It seemed like the media were using the breaks to campaign against Trump. Even on PBS, which I still hold to a higher standard for some reason. I forgot to check Fox's coverage, but I gave up on them years ago, anyway.

It's an interesting event but it's way too much to watch unfiltered.  The Daily Show were setup to cover it all this week but security has really tightened up so now they can't.

Vance comes across very well. He's not the greatest speech maker, but he was relatable. I think he will appeal to lots of people in ways that Harris can't. I thought including his former drug addicted mom was kind of brilliant. There are many many people who have similar experience now. I think they will make the fentanyl crisis part of their platform, although I don't know what his mom was addicted to. If she got clean 10yrs ago, it probably wasn't fentanyl, but it could have been pain pills.

Taking 5 seconds to tell them to peacefully make their voices heard doesn't really excuse the other hour of that speech where he tells them the election has been stolen or the following 3 hours where he ignored calls to do anything while calling anyone in congress who would answer to delay certification as long as possible.

My understanding is they the shooter had a list of politicians.  Trump just happened to be the closest at the time.

As for dems apologizing: I mean, if they talk like Trump where they say the entire institution is corrupt and needs to be stopped, then yeah.

Is there any government group or branch Trump hasn't attacked as corrupt?  Did democrats say how the 2016 election was a fraud and how they have tons of evidence ready for release that'll overturn the results?
