There is no change from within. If you could learn to read in context, the only way Syria could change from its current autocratic style to democratic style would be political. As in, Mr Assad would have to willingly give up a lot of power and give it to the people. This hasn't and probably will not happen so WTF are you on about when you ask what I think change from within is working or not....

Did you watch the Aljazeera article I linked to?

The Syrian civil war originated with the brutal way the Assad regime put down the pro-democracy movement.   The change started from within.

How do you have a pro democracy movement inside an autocratic government? Was this movement sanctioned by Assad?

The only way you will get a democracy that wont destroy the country and murder/displace millions is having such a plan/transition sanctioned by the dude at the top.

Sometimes, it's better to put egos aside and just let a dick rule over you. I bet life in Syria, as much of a dickhead and disgraceful human being Assad is was A LOT better with him in charge.

This rebel movement could have been crushed in its infancy if us 'libtard do gooders' let the regime crush them. Is what we have now better?

Both sides of the conflict are disgusting groups of people.

The Arab spring was a popular uprising that spread across the Arab world,  did you miss that?

Initially the uprising was non-sectarian and it wasn't until later that it became more sectarian,  the Shia (Alawite)  vs Sunni divide became a part of the civil war.

Hmm, was that before or after we got involved in other conflicts and gave the 'rebels' (ISIS) hope they could stand a chance. Perhaps the origins date back to our deposing of Saddam Hussein and later that Gadaffi freak in Libya. Perhaps they were hoping we would do the same for Assad. Hillary certainly wanted it with her stupid 'no fly zone' idea.

This whole shit in the middle east may never have happened if America didn't invade Iraq to begin with. But they have been loving it ever since. ISIS is the gift that keeps on giving for the American political establishment.

The rebels  aren't ISIS in the first instance,  but when things escalated due to Assad's over-reaction it became more and more the Rebels were Sunni,  fighting against the regime Shia,   but the rebels were never really a coherent force,  and large parts of the rebellion became successively jihadist,  Al Nusra aligned with Al-Qaeda,  they fought against ISIS,  but there were more moderate rebel elements as well.  The CIA couldn't sort out who was on who's side either.  I've no doubt that US covert operations were sometimes inadvertently or indirectly helping jihadists.  Not to mention the numerous Kurdish factions.  It's a quagmire.

This whole shit in the middle east may never have happened if America didn't invade Iraq to begin with. But they have been loving it ever since. ISIS is the gift that keeps on giving for the American political establishment.

You mean if Saddam hadn't invaded Kuwait?

There are so many things Trump does that I wouldn't do as president. The least of which is probably care about SNL.  Top of the list, I wouldn't stand by idly while another nation threatens my dick with nukes.

I visited it a few times. Kind of funny to be honest, but I think people there are even more mentally deranged (is that a pleonasm or can I use those words like that?) as they are on 4chan.

Ok thank you. I wasn't sure whether the 'mentally' part was already included in 'deranged'.

It would have been okay to leave out "mentally" but it's not wrong to have it there. Or at least it is used that way pretty regularly.

Deja vu!

This is why I like to point out his inauguration crowd size lie. Not because crowd sizes are important (they aren't). But because it shows his character. Literally the first thing he did as President was broadcast an impulsive, easily-disproven, narcissism-fueled lie.

That was a stupid response from Trump for sure. But it was also stupid for the media to make a deal of it in the first place.

I blame the media for the gong show American politics has become. I don't have a way to prove this but I feel that, ironically, it's because the media has turned elections etc. into such a circus that celebrity clowns like Donald even stand a chance.

America needs to stop treating elections like some cheap game show. Elect solid people who can do the job, not the people with the most flair or popularity.

The media made a deal of it. Trump stupidly fell for the bait as they knew he would. Then the media went into a faux frenzy about it. Pathetic.

Hmm... What do you think Trump?

Quote
“Don’t forget China’s great and Xi is a great gentleman. He’s now president for life,” Trump told Republican backers.

“And look, he was able to do that,” Trump said. “I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll give that a shot some day,”

You are implying that the news agencies knew beforehand that he would fall for that "bait"? Do you honestly think that is even remotely plausible?

But even if it is true, that doesn't change anything. If the President is stupid enough to be baited into such an obvious lie, doesn't that deserve heavy coverage? Or would you prefer that they bury it instead? Is it not important for people to know that the President is delusional? (I'm not sure what you mean by "faux frenzy")
