Interesting move, how long before Lukashenko wakes up to what the Kremlin is planning....  Even then what will he be able to do,  there are thousands of Russian troops already in Belarus.

Horrific.  I can’t take any pleasure in this.

I am starting to see the appeal of religion though.  Don’t much care about salvation or heaven, but I would like to believe that every dead Ukrainian and dead Russian equals another demon fucking Putin and his cronies in the eye sockets for all eternity. 

Being an atheist sucks. Sadly they’ll never get the punishment they deserve.

I watched a video yesterday on the history of Finland and Russia - I had no idea the détente they have goes back centuries with invasions, treaties, defense, the whole shootin' match.

Point being, we need to allow Finland into NATO to really put the pressure on Putin - That would essentially be a checkmate on his provocations.

Edit: Funny, Kabool, I was ranting about Finland/NATO just as you were typing.

Actually, most of the equipment was already bought and is being donated out of existing inventory.  A fair bit coming from EU/NATO is actually old Soviet era equipment, because that's what Ukraine already knows how to use.

Department Moves Quick to Replenish Weapons Sent to Ukraine

Some of the assistance provided has been new and purchased on contract from defense industry manufacturers as a part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. But much of the equipment, some $12.5 billion worth, has been provided as part of presidential drawdown authority. That means things such as Javelin and Stinger missiles, HIMARS rocket launcher systems, and Switchblade unmanned aerial systems, for instance, have been pulled directly from existing U.S. military inventory to be sent overseas.

Because so much gear has been pulled from U.S. military units, that equipment must now be replaced in order to sustain America's own readiness, and the Defense Department has already contracted with an array of manufacturers to give back to military units what was taken from them in order to support Ukraine.

Personally, as a taxpayer, I have no problem with this. With a DOD budget for fiscal 2022 of $1.64 Trillion, a drop in the bucket.
