I really don't get the freak out over a little more freedom of speech.
There is a freak out? I'm sure there is, as people are usually freaking out about something. Let's face it though, most people don't give a flying shit about twitter. I only started to use it at all since the war in Ukraine and I subscribe to a total of two people. They are people translating Russian sources to give interesting insights - hard to find this stuff elsewhere.
The thing is, has anyone ever gone on twitter, scrolled though all the nonsense and thought "what this place desperately needs is less people banned"? Not my first thought, anyway. Then again, I couldn't care less if more people post more shite, whatever their political leanings. I'd just go to the content I want, and ignore all the adds for horrible "free" to play mobile games.
I don't care about Elon Musk's brand or wealth.
Oh I do, but only because I'm hoping for some lovely sweet
schadenfreude.

This deal would never have got anywhere funding right now. With interest rates rising and everything tightening up, there is no way Musk would have got any money from the banks. These kind of deals aren't getting made anymore. As it is, it will cost significantly more to finance and many thing Twitter is worth half what they are paying for it. So, good luck with that.
He got himself into this mess! Maybe he can change things for the better, maybe he won't. I'm not going to take all the breathless catastrophizing by the Twitter journalists as something that's definitely going to happen.
It doesn't actually matter at all though, does it? If Twitter just got turned off the world would probably be slightly better overnight.
