'Satan shoes' launched by Lil Nas X, which contained a drop of blood, to be recalled after Nike lawsuit
Nike filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against MSCHF Product Studio following the launch of the sneakers.

Yeah they had a problem with the human blood, I think.

No problem with the satanic imagery.

Personally, I consider satanic imagery toxic.

The larger point, was that corporations usually want to make money.

Like Pfizer.

Source?

Apparently you are wrong. From the suit filed:

The material alterations include referring to the shoe as “the Satan Shoe,” adding red ink and a drop of human blood to the midsole, adding red embroidered satanic themed detailing, adding a bronze pentagram to the laces, and adding a new sock liner, the complaint alleges.

- Blood
- Satanic embroidery
- Bronze Pentagram

All equally weighted in the lawsuit, not just the blood.

I just don't think Satanism is that controversial anymore. If it was just the imagery I doubt there would have been a problem.

That's just my opinion.

Your opinion is fine, but stating what you think Nike had a problem with based upon your opinion of how Satanism is viewed by the world was patently incorrect, i.e., your, Nike had no "No problem with the satanic imagery." Which, apparently, as evidenced, they had a problem with it. Coupled with you trying to use the Nike example as a corps are totally fine with toxic content.

At a minimum, it was a blunder of an example. A poorly executed knee-jerk that was utterly flawed in an attempt to make a point at which you failed miserably.

I think Elon Musk is an eccentric genius. He's a little weird but all men of a certain calibre are.

I mean, I don't put rockets in orbit so its rather hard for me to call him mediocre.

You debunk flat earth theory on the flat earth society. From what I've seen you do a decent job.

Technically he doesn't either. His employees do.
Who was the genius behind AC power, Tesla or Westinghouse?

He is certainly good at marketing (as any good con man must be), but I wouldn't call him a genius.

Twitter has issues already and it's got nothing to do with Elon Musk.
No, but it will do if he buys it.  He will be plunging straight into that cess pit and whatever he does will likely please nobody, or at least please a few and piss of the majority.

The whole thing could be very damaging to his brand, not to mention his wealth.

Anyway, he's super popular in Moscow right now, so he's got that I suppose....  ???

I really don't get the freak out over a little more freedom of speech. I never thought I'd live to see the day when all the anti free speech people are on the left. lol

Twitter would rather censor wrongthink than child sexual abuse images and videos (it took 6 years and a NYT article for one woman's filmed rape to be taken down). Bad and/or wrong opinions are the easiest thing to avoid on Twitter. You can block people, mute them, subscribe to a blocklist so someone else can curate what you are too delicate to read, etc.  Block the fucking Nazis! It will still be against Twitter rules to actually harass someone, but expressing an opinion isn't harassment. If you name search yourself on Twitter and find people talking about you, you aren't being harassed (ex. Jonathan "Jessica Simpson" Yaniv was able to get people banned for misgending him while talking about his lawsuit against women who wouldn't wax his balls).

I don't care about Elon Musk's brand or wealth. He got himself into this mess! Maybe he can change things for the better, maybe he won't. I'm not going to take all the breathless catastrophizing by the Twitter journalists as something that's definitely going to happen. I mean, things could be bad, they could be good, but most likely not much will change. Those kinds of articles wouldn't get the clicks, though.

I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Any angst I have on this is purely about getting trump back on Twitter.

Other than that I find this all extremely amusing. He's abort to be forced to spend money he doesn't exactly have to buy a company he doesn't want.  It will likely do enormous damage to himself and to Twitter.

There is a freak out?  I'm sure there is, as people are usually freaking out about something.  Let's face it though, most people don't give a flying shit about twitter.  I only started to use it at all since the war in Ukraine and I subscribe to a total of two people.    They are people translating Russian sources to give interesting insights - hard to find this stuff elsewhere.

The thing is, has anyone ever gone on twitter, scrolled though all the nonsense and thought "what this place desperately needs is less people banned"?   Not my first thought, anyway.  Then again, I couldn't care less if more people post more shite, whatever their political leanings.  I'd just go to the content I want, and ignore all the adds for horrible "free" to play mobile games.

Quote
I don't care about Elon Musk's brand or wealth.
Oh I do, but only because I'm hoping for some lovely sweet schadenfreude. :P

This deal would never have got anywhere funding right now.  With interest rates rising and everything tightening up, there is no way Musk would have got any money from the banks.  These kind of deals aren't getting made anymore.  As it is, it will cost significantly more to finance and many thing Twitter is worth half what they are paying for it.  So, good luck with that.

It doesn't actually matter at all though, does it? If Twitter just got turned off the world would probably be slightly better overnight.

There is definitely a freak out. Even Politico thinks there is a freak out. lol https://www.politico.com/news/2022/10/05/washington-elon-musk-00060538 (not that you can really trust what politico says)

I know a lot of people who think Twitter needs to ban less people. I think Twitter should ban less often. I'm just not that bothered by people speaking their minds. I follow the people I am interested in, and don't even have a clue what people I don't follow are posting most of the time.  (if you use uBlock Origin you won't see any ads at all, anywhere)

Do you follow Matt Taibbi? He was posting some translated stuff for awhile, but I haven't seen anything lately.

I'm not sure how anyone uses the internet without it, uninstall all your other ad blockers and install ublock origin. It's free and open source.

My mate had three ad blockers and was still getting ads. I convinced him to uninstall them and install ublock. He was hesitant but since then no more ads, anywhere, ever.

The courts pushed off the trial by 3 weeks to see if they can actually complete the transaction.

The trial is still schedule because twitter doesn't trust Musk and believes he'll just refuse to pay for it if they cancel the trial.
