You still haven't answered the question I asked. Read it again.
Are you referring to this?
Why did you start a thread to bash flat earthers down here?
Well I believe I have answered it. Perhaps I should elaborate more and in several other ways
My original post is for a philosophical one. The premise of my statement is about accumulating knowledge over many generations and passing it on to the next. Because we don't live forever, we don't have the time to learn all there is. So within each generation, the human race is supposed to be collectively smarter than the last.
HOWEVER, (and this is where you might think I'm being pointed towards bashing 'flat earthers'), there are sects within the society which totally reject the teachings of those before in favour of an outlandish theory probably to be different in a world where there are billions just like you. I suppose it's some way of standing out from the crowd. However these people 'dumb down' the society in which they live and that is essentially a problem. I never suggested in my original post (and still don't) to unquestionable conformity. To just 'go with the flow' But flat earthers (and other groups like hollow earthers or shape shifting lizard people) take a stance that is just anything BUT (whatever the government says).
As humans, we can use more than eyes to see. We can use tools, that see far better and far more range than our eyes can. Instruments that hear far better and with an expanded range than we can. All of these have taken pictures of our sun, mapped our solar system, even our universe. Hell, as I've said before, even a stick in your backyard can prove everything from the number of days in a year, the orbital axis of the earth and yes, even that it is not flat. Look at the Sun set on a horizon and see how the sky changes colour for once in your lives. Couldn't happen on any model the FEM has put forward so how do you put faith in a totally unworkable theory?
I have come here not to 'bash you' as people. But to
debate (which incidentally given the polarising topic bashes a little) your
philosophy of flat earth. Yes I come here totally rejecting it as farcical but also curious as to your reasoning behind it. But when people want to get personal and call me a dick and the like, then they can expect as good as they give. No apologies there
This thread was NOT about bashing you or flat earthers but being a flat earther forum, used as an example about
debating the aspects of society accumulating knowledge over time and generations. Having read your forums, a common theme with flat earthers is to
reject what others tell you. To which I posed is a problem for a developing society and the accumulation of knowledge.
Honestly, if these long winded posts don't answer your question, please pose it in a different way. You might not be getting the answer because your not asking the right question
