PROOF Earth is not round

How could the Earth possibly be round? we would all fall off the sides! Also, the centrifical force would throw everyone into space! learn your facts before you pretend like you know everything.

This can be proven BTW.

Proof of the Earth being round came after the voyage of Columbus. When Newton discovered and measured the force of gravity, that number could then be tested anywhere the theory was known. Since the force of gravity is roughly the same everywhere on the globe, it could be surmised that the Earth must be spherical. If the Earth were not round, whole hemispheres would have different atmospheric pressure and significantly different sea levels. Also, pictures taken of the Earth in the last 50 years have proved absolutely conclusively that the Earth is round. These are just the arguments that don't require much physics knowledge to explain, there are others that are more technical, but I think that the simplest arguments are the best.

That Europeans believed the Earth was flat until Columbus "proved them wrong" is one of the great false legends of history. Scholors knew the Earth was a sphere since the ancient Greeks, and even knew approximately how big it was. Gravitational force point approximation (gravitational force of a sphere can be approximated to a single central point with equal mass) can be proved by geometry (comlicated but Newton did it) or easily by calculus.

Also, it is actually more intuitive that the Earth should be spherical than modern people think. The moon, sun, and stars appear as globes in the sky, and the curvature of the Earth can be seen each time you look out over the ocean horizon. Besides, if the Earth were flat, there would be no horizon; you could see all the way to the edge.

Newton's gravitational theory didn't prove the Earth was round. In Newton's time everybody knew that. It can be proved easily once you understand astronomy. Earth's dimensions were discovered by the Greeks using measurements of the angles of shadows, and their knowledge of circles and triangles.

Most of you don't seem to realize that if the world were flat, people wouldn't be able to sail around it, columbous wasn't the only person to do so, morons, you can't prove me wrong on this one, because you all know it's true, grow up and study this shit before you say stuff like the earth is flat, i'm only fifteen, and i'm smarter than half the freaking people here!

They had these things called "cameras" and "film" and "dark rooms."  It's been years, but I once took a picture of the Full Moon, another picture of a crescent Moon, and another pic of my house in the daytime (had to use a special filter, but the pic includes the Sun directly over the house).

Using some basic darkroom skills, I put both copies of the Moon just slightly above my house, with the Sun slightly above the two.  Makes a neat triangle.

So, does that mean that Earth has 2 moons orbiting it?

You guys are honestly retarded. There's videos of a camera showing the view on a rocket as it launches into space. As it goes up, you can see the round earth. It would be impossible to travel thru space the way we do if it was flat.

Ooooh, didn't watch closely enough. Guess it's Africa. It explains all the elephants, I suppose.

A) There is no such thing as Centrifugal force... only Centripetal acceleration
B) Image altering technology in the 70s was NO WHERE near capable to create quality fakes like that.
C) when being created in an open space. objects being created generally take on a spherical form. (take for example looking into the stars. every planet and star we see is in a spherical form, its just plain illogical to think that for some reason the earth was created differently)
D)You guys are idiots.
E) Its just a plain matter of times in terms of travel... If you think about it, if the earth were round, the fastest way to get from say New York to Paris would be a straight line through the atlantic ocean, but it is not. The fastest way is to travel in a seemingly curved pattern. That is because the earth is ROUND, and a straight path from one place to another does not exist.
