So, you concede that you are denying your eyes in favor of an illusion then?

No more than if a box you can see contains, or does not contain a cat that you cannot see.

Some do, some do not. By making this a poll you will have mostly RE voting, which is probably not what you are looking for.

What I tell people who ask this sort of question is that most conspiracy theories are believed in by round earthers.

That could mean that round earthers would tend to believe in conspiracy theories.

Or it could mean that of the people who believe in conspiracy theories, most are round earthers.

It's an interesting concept but needs tidying up.

As a percentage statistic, you are wrong.

100% of flat earthers are conspiracy theorists. They have to be.

In numbers only? Yes, simply because there are very few flatties compared to RE.

Tom, I wouldn't beat the illusion drum too loudly if I were you, especially since the FE explanation for the motions of the celestial bodies (including the rising and setting of the sun and moon) relies on some bizarre, ever changing combination of perspective, refraction, aether, bendy light, dome/atmoplane projection, etc. illusions.

So you say!

How about some evidence showing that the ordinary high altitude vapour trails are anything more than simply vapour trails?

Are you suggesting that jet exhaust does not contain chemicals that get left behind in a trail? ???

I believe he’s suggesting that the white trails that are visible behind aircraft under certain atmospheric conditions are simply water condensation, just as the name implies.

Byproducts from combustion are of course always emitted regardless of whether a contrail is visible or not.

Don’t know whether you are just being a bit snarky or not, but when people talk about chemtrails, they don’t mean the engine exhaust, but alleging that the aircraft are being used to deliberately spray chemicals or particulate for some nefarious reason.

Water is a chemical.

The trails are therefore made of chemical, hence chemtrails.

However you seem to think that the trails are made of vapor (vapour). How silly is that? Water vapor is transparent in the visible specrum. The trails are made of condensed water droplets that may or may not have frozen.

I see that you think pointing out someone's misconception of a fact is being a smart aleck. Expect to see your behavior called out similarly. And no. High altitude condensation trails are not simply vapor trails. As I said before, water vapor is transparent in the visible.

I suppose it's too much to ask that you would appreciate learning that something you thought was true was a misconception, and that you now had the correct information, and would not continue to repeat over and over something that was not true, rather than snark in reply. But as I've come to learn, you present yourself here as the Corrector-General, the Know-It-All who must be right at all costs, and Lecturer-in-Chief who must spout off on every topic, whether he knows anything about it or not.

Yes, I was incorrect in saying that "condensation trails" were "vapour trails" but they are commonly called "vapour trails", even in the Encyclopaedia Britannica.

ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE
Alternative Titles: condensation trail, vapour trail
Contrail, also called condensation trail or vapour trail, streamer of cloud sometimes observed behind an airplane flying in clear cold humid air.

OK, now that you've proven me wrong, a snark and a smart Aleck, now what about something relevant to "Do flat earthers believe in chemtrails?"

Your first post in this thread was distinctly unhelpful:
Of course, chemtrails are real. The evidence for them is overwhelming.
Especially when you know very well what is meant by chemtrails when conspiracy theorists complaim about chemtrails.

Particularly if they are thinking something other than "Aircraft sometimes leave trails, and they consist of chemicals".

Especially when you know very well what is meant by chemtrails when conspiracy theorists complaim about chemtrails.

Even if they were wrong about chemtrails being a mix of carcinogens and blood and other toxic rubbish, dumping copious amounts of water in the stratosphere is damaging to the climate and thus the humans below

There was a significant difference found after the September 11 attacks or when Icelands volcano blew and aircraft was grounded.

Have I ever claimed otherwise?

But, you too know very well what is meant by chemtrails when conspiracy theorists complaim about chemtrails and it's not water, CO2 or even nitrogen oxides that they claim.

The rise of commercial airlines contributed to the famines (through climate change) in Africa don't you know.

Of course, chemtrails are real. The evidence for them is overwhelming.

And what is that overwhelming evidence? Youtube videos?

Actually, discarding chemtrails (from the conspiracy point of view) is quite easy using simple logic.

1. There is no airplane in the whole world with such a capacity to carry enough chemicals to spray over such a large area. When you see contrails in the sky you realize that they may be many miles long. This is a one of the biggest firefighting airplanes in the world and as you can see, it sprays it load in just a few seconds.

2. Spraying cities from such a high altitude is a very bad idea. Winds up there could be very strong, so any chemical would be blown away and it wont reach the surface.

3. They say that chemtrails are poisoning and deadful. Just think that countries with more “chemtrails” are usually first world countries. Why? Because air traffic is heavier in those countries. Isn’t it interesting that this sprayed first world countries have the healtiest population and longer life expectance of the world?

4. If they wanted to poison us or cause any desease, it would be a lot easier, efficient, cheaper and discrete to poison our water or food.

Sure, but contrails are rarely, if ever, dense enough to be considered cloud cover.

And that article presented conflicting information...
