If power generators don't produce extra excess power when there is no load, why would they need to "dump" excess power when not under load?  Do you not see the contradiction of your statements?

I own a portable generator.  Why do I not need to dump excess power when nothing is plugged into it?
Not sure why you replied to my post and asked that question.  You should be replying to Scepti as he has now claimed that extra power needs to be dumped yet that there is no extra power when not under a load.
Do you know why motors have fans on them?
We are discussing generators, not motors.  Fans are to cool the components and increase their life.

Please explain in detail how a power station dumps power.
There's various ways. Large resistors, flywheels, street lights, heating elements...all kinds of ways.
Please provide a link to documentation on this.
I'll do better than that. Come and visit me and I'll provide a nice place for your head down my smelly underpants as I'm wearing them. ;D
About the only thing we have learned in this thread is that Scepti does not properly wash himself... ;D

As sceptimatic has demonstrated a woeful ignorance of nuclear power generation (amongst almost all other things of a scientific nature!) I thought I'd post this diagrammatic representation of the process:

Hopefully this high-school level diagram will be comprehensible even to someone like sceptimatic LOL.

I'm well aware of how they say it works, Geoffrey. Are you so dense that you can't grasp what's being argued here?
All you thinkers out there; take a look at the above diagram and have a serious think about the steam generation. Does this system look realistic to you?

If you take a look at the set up, it's basically a closed loop reactor that heats water up and pumps it to a steam generator by the waterheating of a pipe....not an element.
Does this look feasible to you in terms of generating enough steam for a purpose?

It's a ridiculous set up when you consider it's supposed to be nuclear power.
This is the diagrams they feed us with to make it simple and it's crap. It's nonsense.
It's the most ridiculous way to heat water and turn it into steam...but they get away with it because of this super magical set of fissioning pellets called uranium. It's so pathetic, it should be seen for what it is.

It's the same with supposed nuclear powered ships and submarines. A closed loop system so there's no leakage of radioactive steam.
It's all supposedly condensed as it flows around a system. So how does the submarine disperse the hot steam build up after turbine use?
It has to have a cooling outlet; as we can see with Geoffrey's diagram at the power station; it's a cooling tower or the reservoir.

I bet you're thinking, "duh scepti, what do you think submarines work in." I say, "ahhh, water/oceans." And they say, " correct, scepti, so that's how they disperse it."

It sort of takes away the stealth capabilities of a sub, doesn't it? I mean, can you imagine the heat given out from this sub?
Any sub hunter ship would pick it up as though the sub was shouting, "hey, here we are, we're the ones spewing out super heated steam."

Those rods building up heat inside these so called reactors would be creating HYDROGEN, so where does that go? It's a closed loop; so where would that go to?

The concept of it, to anyone in awe of it, looks fair enough, doesn't it?
I mean; if someone says, "oh, I'd love to know how nuclear power works" and you say, " oh, well, it works like this", they would say, "wow, it's a clever way isn't it."
You see, most people wouldn't question it because they won't have a mind to question it. They would simply be happy that someone has explained it, then they will go off and tell someone else how it all works, which will make the other person believe they are a genius for knowing all this stuff.

It reminds you of a global Earth doesn't it?
It's basically the same nonsense.
Someone tells you how the Earth rotates on its axis, the goes around the sun, etc, etc and people say, " wow, yeah, that makes sense; I always wondered how it all worked." Bingo! You got them, hook line and sinker, because they won't have a mind to question it. They will simply go off and big themselves up by regurgitating that knowledge they believe is true.

There's some very bright people on here. Unfortunately brightness and naivety seem to go hand in hand with a lot of them.
Their minds are so clouded with scientific nonsense, they can't or won't enetertain the thought that a lot of what they're learning could be absolute bollocks.
They are what's known as "mainstream institutionalised", they can't think outside of that box they're trapped inside.

Scepi.. you really seem to know how it does not work. Now if you had a positive attitude instead a fake or conspiracy mental state you may learn something. The fact you don't want to go tells us you are going to be intimated by people that are smarter than you. You won't be able to handle that. I know you are going to give me a long lecture how that are sheep and are just told what to do. In the end just the fact you don't want to go tell everybody you are a conspiracy theorist. We see right through you.

You see nothing through me. Don't bother trying these lines, lol, it won't work. The smell of bull crap gets stronger by the day with you.

The simple facts about me visiting a so called nuclear power station are, I will be told how it all works. I can get this info from google.
I'm not about to go into a power station and tell them I don't believe it is what it is. I may be made out to be stupid by you but I am not stupid enough to believe for 1 second that me saying that will have those people go straight into ridicule mode, because they don't know any different, so naturally they would just attempt to make me look a fool and banish me.

It makes me laugh how people like you just say, "well go and visit one" or " you won't go because you will know it's real."
You haven't got the capacity to question stuff. It's much easier regurgitating what you were indoctrinated with, with people like you.

The engineers are not there to make fun of people. Now if you start giving the attitude of know everything they will try to explain how it works. It is your choice to believe it or not but you will never know unless you go. Remember you are the one that is telling us nuclear power does not exist.

I'm aware of that. The point is, it's still a closed system like in the diagram. It has to be to be passed off as supposedly safe to us.
The simplified diagram still depicts what they tell us goes on.

The top and bottom of it is, fuel rods in a closed pot in the water. Control rods in between, Lift up the control rods and you have fission. The higher you lift, the more supposed heat from fission because of the more uranium rods exposed.

These rods are fantasy in how they are supposed to work, in my honest opinion.
