Flat Earth General / Re: Nice site (new evidence on FE !!!!! )
« on: April 02, 2007, 01:00:04 AM »
Hi everybody , i just found this site and i was reading for at least 1 hour trying to get an opinion about it .

To start with i have to say that its one of the funniest sites i have ever seen on my nine year of websurfing . I mean first i was like .. Are this people stupid or what ?????????  But the only possible explanation i coul get is that nobody can be this ignorant so i like to think this is all a big joke .

But the funniest part i think is some of the people that come here calling names and stuff like that ... i think that they are the morons , cant they see you´re all joking ?? Any person whit the iq of a kid could figure out that its impossible the earth is flat .

Anyway , i find really amazing  that so many people believe that you actually believe that the earth is flat . And the faq .. omg thats like a comedy show on its own .

Quote : Q: "What's underneath the Earth?" aka "What's on the bottom?" aka "What's on the other side?"

A: This is unknown. Some believe it to be just rocks, others believe the Earth rests on the back of four elephants and a turtle. ""

This one has got to be the best , how can someone take this serious ?

To end i just have to say that i respect the opinions of other people (even if they make no sense and are ridiculous) , and i seriously doubt that anyone can really believe in that . If you do believe in it dont take my words rong or dont try to explain it to me (its pointless) . To all the other keep the good work joking whit people who think you really believe in that .

Best regards From portugal .
ps: Sorry if my english is not very good .

congratulations, sir, for solving the riddle of this website!

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Wikipedia is awesome!
« on: April 01, 2007, 04:07:15 PM »
Now that multiple people may look at it, it might change so let me quote it.

"The Flat Earth Society is an organization first based in England and later in Lancaster, California that advocates the belief that the Earth is not a sphere but is flat (see also Flat Earth). No modern scientists or religious groups have published support for this belief. This has exposed the society to much outside ridicule and made it a popular metaphor for dogmatic thinking and unreasoning adherence to tradition, with the term Flat-Earther coming to refer to a person who rejects changes in the scientific consensus, and by extension one who lives in the past."

The truth is actually the opposite. Nobody believes in a flat earth, and they are goofing on people who would actually argue that point.

Where does it say that the only way for a mass to have gravity is for it to be accelerating upwards?
I don't remember saying that.  I remember saying 'gravity' = acceleration.

how does acceleration = gravity in a vacuum?

The new skin is harder to read and decipher.

Also, when quoting, only include the post responded to in the quote, otherwise the quotes pile up and there's too many to sort through.

Other than that you have a real nice setup here.

You are trying to tell me that I don't believe the Earth is flat.  Well, you're wrong.  I decide what I believe and not anyone else, and I believe the Earth is flat.
Moreover, I have believed this well over a decade now, and I have a bookshelf of literature on it.

And not everyone holds your ignorant opinion.  For example, Diego Draw has been around long enough to see that bullhorn is sincere.

How long have you been around?

I tell you what you believe. You don't believe the earth is flat. Everybody does, in fact, hold this opinion, and I dare you to prove otherwise.

Um... English is not MY first language, and yet I take the modicrum of time necessary to write well enough. What's YOUR excuse?

I'll give you some tips then.

Don't start a sentence with 'Um' especially when followed by ...

Modicrum is not a word. It's Modicum, and it would be 'a modicum of time', not 'the modicum of time'

Writing well enough is a fragmented clause. Well enough for what? the word 'enough' is unecessary.

Using all caps in the middle of a sentence is incorrect.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: What are REers trying to prove?
« on: March 16, 2007, 12:32:35 AM »
Why do REers invade a board dedicated to Flat Earth research? And why are they so hostile, and not considerate at all about their invasion, sometimes outright trolling threads? To me it looks like they really have something important to prove to themselves.

My position is that they must be very shaky in their Round Earthist belief, and seek reassurance by ganging up on easy prey.

Why is your faith so shaky?

it's a good question. i think people just like to argue.

I'm still undecided about a few people. We have some good actors on here.

Perhaps the folowing list I composed a while back under the pseudonym of 'Lord Byron' will help you get a bearing:
http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=4247.0

bullhorn has been around a while.  Aside from Daniel and Mr. Bill (who I have not heard from in ages), I have been around the longest with the exception of Flat Earth88 who left for over a year and a half and then briefly returned last year.  Chaltier and Dogplatter have been around since early last year.  The rest are comparatively new.

this is why i initially appreciated this forum. 7 people who believe in this crap and 300 people a day arguing about it. pure genius!

however, i think it's better than that. none of them on the list believe the world is flat.  this is pretty obvious.

this puts them in one of two categories.

1) very smart

2) very stupid

if they are 1) very smart, they don't believe it yet perpetuate the belief as sort of performance art

if they are 2) very stupid, then they believe the world is flat due to the people that belong in group 1)

Sop how come we never see quotes or proofs from all these amazing pieces of "literature"?

Here's a quote from "A hundred proofs the earth is not a globe" - so you can guage it's scientific credibility.

Proof 33: If the Earth were a globe, people- except those on top - would certainly have to be fastened to it's surface by some means or other; ... but as we know we simply walk on it's surface, without any other aid than that which is necessary for locomotion on a flat plane, tt follows that we have herein a conclusive proof that the earth is not a globe.

another quote from it is something like "are the antipodes standing upside-down like sleeping bats?"

good stuff, if you ask me.

Went up in '92. You might be surprised to learn that quite a few other people have seen the same thing. A big ball.

Questions?

For FE'ers to believe you, you would need to prove that you actually went to space.

So whilst they don't have to produce any proof of their ridiculous theory, I have to prove what I already know?

First of all, nobody really believes the earth is flat. It's a ruse to get people riled up. Unfortunately the creativity factor on this site is pretty low. "Read the FAQ" is about the extent of it.

22

The government is making you think the shadow is round, what you're actually seeing is some kind of fake moon.

More importantly, what happened to your avatar? It got squished. Must of had something to do with the extra gravity during the so-called lunar  "eclipse".

Firstly, arguing here is like licking a cats anus. The cat will like it but you will have a bad taste in your mouth.
Uh...I'll take your word on that.

It's just my 'theory'

« on: March 04, 2007, 11:00:30 PM »
Firstly, arguing here is like licking a cats anus. The cat will like it but you will have a bad taste in your mouth. Secondly, since observable phenomenon is constantly in flux, reality only becomes truth once you observe it. Therefore, until you observe the speherical earth (round is the wrong term i believe, because fe is also 'round') for yourself, the earth is neither flat nor round.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: The Earth is Totally Flat!
« on: February 28, 2007, 08:04:41 PM »
i caught something about a 4 cornered cube, but cubes have eight corners....

if it's cubes it would deal with either 3, 6, 8, or maybe 12. The only thing a cube has to do with 4 is the numbers of edges to a single face. But 6 faces increase that number to TWENTY-four....

or, you know, cubes in itself represent the singularity that so hates, because every edge, face, angle, every aspect of a cube is uniform, AKA, one [measure/dimension/length/whatever] for all it applies to.

dude, that's not a cube. it's a TIMECUBE. Geez.

I can't find any real evidence that the Earth could possibly be anything but flat.

You are all the most intelligent minds I have ever come across. You are doing the Lord's work. Please continue on your righteous mission of flatness.

Have you all checked out TimeCube?

timecube rocks!

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Didn't see in the FAQ - not 56k friendly

What are you waiting for? Can I wait with you?

Just waiting for an answer to my original question, rather than the standard "it's fake" scenario. If I am to make a proper decision regarding fe theory I need my questions answered. This star thing's got me confused, because as I've stated I've done the pics myself, so I know the phenomenon exists. Just wondering what the fe explanation is.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Didn't see in the FAQ - not 56k friendly

Holy fucking shit. You really are pulling at strings, aren't you? Films are put together with frames of pictures. You've seen it on shitty reality shows with sunsets and sunrises. What's the difference between this and putting it in wmv form, and the fact that he didn't have to add the unexplained flash in the background?

Please walk outside and take your own pictures and then post it.

i think the correct term is 'grasping at straws'. All I said was that you could do this yourself, since photos are inadmissable.

also, i don't watch shitty reality shows so no, i'm not sure what you are talking about there.

if you would like i could post one of my own star trail photographs, however i'd rather you do the science so you believe the results. maybe you are not willing to do any real work to come to a conclusion.

i'm still waiting for an explanation. I'm wavering towards this 'spherical earth' theory. but i'm still open minded.
I'm going to ignore this, since that wasn't directed at you.

oh ok. cool..

still waiting.

Flat Earth Q&A / Good analogy for flat earth.
« on: February 26, 2007, 11:43:29 PM »
This might be a good analogy, picture wise, for the fe theory. It's hard to put into words of course, but this simple technique by the artist is tapping into truth, maybe even subconciously.
