Heres a crazy one for you - "moon terminator illusion". Its not really an experiment but you could look into it.

I think someone investigating may be intrigued by it.

For me it kindof opened my eyes to how they said (I think I was told it) a certain thing as a kid only to see it wasn't actually true....I was told the lit face of moon faces sun but then you see it is not exactly like that.

Even if the explanation was more complete then I remember I still find it eye opening and seems to leave possibilty for sky being sperical and hence footage of earth from space is not evidence definitive of globe.

May be wrong about this... i can see the logic of the mainstream explanation, but i am not so sure i agree.

There is a simple experiment you could do without going out and waiting for lake to freeze.

You can use various airlines websites to check a travel time between major cities of the world. Make sure you pick cities from all continents. You can check and write down  aircraft flight speed.

Avoid picking short distance flights. There is more influence of start and landing manuvers on flight time there.

Ensure at least 3 connections from each city.

There is a difference of flight time between east and west direction. Even 2h for 10h flight. Just in case, pick only one direction for experiment (other ideas welcome).

Now you have your data.

Now take some stiff wire.
Cut wire into pieces proportional to travel time e.g. 1h equal to 1inch. If you want to be more precise, you can use aircraft speeds and calculate distances to use them instead of hours.

Use glue gun or other way to connect wires.
Make sure you attach a tag to each node to ensure you remember which city is it.

You should be able to keep adding cities and the whole wireframe should remain more or less flat. At the end you can even print a map in a proper scale and check if it fits.

Hey guys and girls,  I'm FE curious and I'm wondering if there are any experiments I can perform myself to prove the earth is flat.  I've read about the bedford level experiments and I have done a few similar experiments myself with inconclusive results.

Are there any other experiments I can try myself that don't involve line of sight?
First thing you should note is that Earth has been observed to be flat. By simple observation, The Earth around us is flat, and hence if someone claims that Earth is round, that person needs to prove it. If no one proves Earth is round, Earth shall be presumed to be flat. However, if an experiment is really needed to convince you, you may try pointing a laser towards the edge of the Earth, and travel far enough, you would notice that the laser points upwards. This shows that light bends upwards when travelling far enough, and hence we cannot see the sun at night because light from the sun bends upwards and becomes invisible at ground level.
Earth is flat. Everyone should know that Earth is flat. If you do not know Earth is flat, you should learn about the Earth.

Do you live in the Polder-lands or a salt flat? Because around these parts, it is very much gently undulating in which case I declare the Earth corrugated and henceforth start a religion that we live on the discarded waste from a giants birthday party where we fear the appearance of the great recycler.
Life is meaningless and everything dies.
