Hi!
« on: March 17, 2021, 08:17:21 AM »
I am brand new here, so I suppose this should be the first place I make my presence known, as I just tried to comment here under this thread A Question about Gravity and Acceleration. and a warning came up regarding me commenting on a thread that was more than 120 days old, so I didn't post my comment even though I felt I had some very valid points to add to the thread which would have added to the conversation already in place.

So, my lack of posts/comments right now is coming from me still learning how this forum works, not too mention digesting all the posts and comments already in place, as I do not wish to repeat something that is already in place.

While on this topic, a few years back I joined a forum where you could not simply sign up, I mean - you did - but then you got an automatic reply with three questions, and then a final question which was something along the lines of what brought you to this forum, and it had to be an essay like response.

I realize that something like this would take a lot of work to do and go through, but it should/would weed out many of the bots, along other things.

Anyhow, I'm hoping over time to become a part of the Flat Earth community here over time, not too mention a member of the Flat Earth Society as well, which I have asked for further info regarding how one does that via the contact info page

Thank You !!
I'll give it some thought, as I wanted to slightly shift gears a bit and focus on something the last person who commented brought up, which for me was like a great awakening and a very easy way to jump right into this forum and not feel awkward as a new member here.
What I will certainly do is search the forums further to see if any previous discussion occurred with what I was thinking/wondering about, so I am not repeating something that's already been discussed.

Thanks again for the welcome :)

I once joined a forum for people that were huge fans of North Korea. Everytime you submitted a post, it had to get approved by the moderators first. This could take hours or days. Suffice to say, only glowing posts about North Korea and its leader made it up and conversations didn't have a natural flow

Maybe this forum could adopt a similar model 8) I'm sure John Davis has time. :)

Nah, we run pretty good some of the time 8)

Hi Shifter.... wow - N. Korea... I bet that was an interesting forum none the less !!

That's one place that truly fascinates me, and one country which I have never logged in via my 1950s/1960s shortwave radios - anyhow - I don't think it would need to be that extreme here, seems like all the forums have bots all over the place, and the scary thing is the bots seem to be getting smarter/more sophisticated as time goes on.

I've noticed too that there are two [??] Flat Earth Society forums, which seem similar - yet very different and I was kind of wondering about that although I'm not looking to go off topic - but the other forum, that one seems way more difficult to join, as I believe you send your email address and just hope you are somehow approved [how I don't know...] based on just that.

No. Just no, if Masalang the Torpedo doesn't resonate then taking his tag as a naturalist then Minke Boomslang should, it was supposed to be Croutons childs name but he bottled it.

It's just an abbreviation of my true name and where I'm from, but all is good.. I get called far worse elsewhere.

Interesting how the first half of this thread was axed, and this being created a thread upon itself.... as I mentioned, I've got a lot to learn here.

Gotta say - this is a great forum - the acceleration vs gravity discussions really got me thinking, as I never heard the acceleration point of view before.

I'm going through the forums to see if there's any discussion of - if gravity is consistent on a round earth be it on the equator or at the actual axis, meaning would we weigh the same at both ??
Would we feel the same at both ??
I mean, there has to be a difference, right ??
Also round earth rotating earth - gravity would work with a hollow earth, kind of like the space ship in 2001, where the astronaut runs along the inside diameter of the craft ??

Round Earth poses many questions, while flat earth provides many answers....

I'm gonna throw this out there as well, since I have a dobson [spelling off ??] reflector telescope - 10" mirror - and when describing how Saturn looked with it's rings, I said that it actually looked fake, like a bad 1960s science fiction tv show.

ok... signing off from here - gotta go outside and finish up the final repairs to my tower which holds up my SSB radio antennas - it got damaged during a so called tropical storm we had last year, and I got to make the temporary repairs permanent, then I'll be shooting skip later on [hopefully !!]

73s...

I suppose I could change my handle here to my SSB call sign.... any other operators here that like to dabble in 11 meters and beyond ??

The first half of this thread is still where it belongs, this part of the thread was split off and given a new thread since it was off topic.

The original thread is here in Suggestions & Concerns https://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=88111.0

Gotcha !!

In light of the desire by some to have my profile name changed, I'm still going with what I have - but I did decide to change my profile picture to one that's a bit more interesting and actually has a good story behind it.

Now if I can only get this wind to die down, as falling off a ladder at great heights is not the way I want to start year 56 off, especially since I got two wooden models of the flat earth coming to me [from Moscow supposedly....]

Lammies for everyone! Be forewarned, the Minke Boomslang ryder stipulates no brown M&M's offered in the green room. So bring your own. But there will be plenty of PBRs and well booze. Sadly, only Canada Dry Ginger Ale as a mixer for everything. And miniature bread sandwiches you'll have to figure out how to fold and assemble on your own. Budget concerns.
