Consumer protection law is another type of superpower.  One that lets people not blow a weekend learning printer repair.

Wow, a thread on super powers descends into a discussion on consumer protection law.   

Actually, whether or not you have the right to repair your own electronic devices is a pretty big question in a number of industries, including consumer devices.

I have a super power.  Let me explain.

I bought Mrs. Crouton an all in one printer for her birthday.  But it was broken and I was too lazy to return it in time(there's power #1, the power to miss deadlines).

Canon's support line is beyond worthless, it's nonexistent.  Alright, game over right?  I'm out a $300 printer.

Not so fast!  My other super power is obsessing over the injustice of a printer without any warranty support.  I learned the printer, became one with it.  Understood it's pain.  Finally, after spending about 10 hours taking it apart and putting it back together I finally fixed it.

This is my true superpower.  I can spend the equivalent of $900 of my own time to fix a $300 printer.

I'm really gald to here your story, and thats great news about their thorough manual - I've gone throught a couple car manuals lately shaking my head in disappointment. Whole other animal perhaps.

But i still think you make a point to call and complain to these canon people. I've actually had nothing but good experiences with their introductory level camreas. But still, accountabability is accountablility and we all need it.

We need to continue withour psychic experiment. We could take over the world, or at least get some free kfc or something.

My Number was 5 because that was just the most obvious choice - i think it was obvious to anyone,  who thinks like me, at least.
Additional trivia - ducks can recognize groupings and identify the number of things up to 5. I'm not sure the significance of this, but someone decided to put it in the newspaper. I'm not calling anyone here a duck.

If anyone wants to continue with the experimant, the most common favorite number, i heard, is between 1 and 50. Anyone wanna guess what it is?
