Jeff Bezos stepping down as CEO of Amazon

It appears Jeff Bezos is passing the CEO mantle over to Amazon's top cloud executive and will remain on as the Executive Chairman of the Board. Is it so he can focus on some of his philanthropic projects? Will a scandal be announced in the coming days/weeks that he's trying to get in front of? I don't know, but I'm sure there will be more news about this.

Maybe he just wants a chance to enjoy his literal mountain of money while he is still young enough to really enjoy it.

He may be planning a trip to Turkey to get his hair back!

The most likely explanation is that he's transitioning.

I suspect that in a year or so this new ceo will step down for plucky newcomer Jeffa Bezos.

Maybe the ghost of Christmas past decided to pay him a visit.

Maybe he's going to try to get his Kuiper satellite broadband project moving along so that he can shut Elon Musk up about Starlink.

Maybe he got cancer or another disease.


Or maybe he though he has now achieved 'enslaving as many people as possible, destroy the planet as fast as possible'.

He founded the company 30 years ago. He's just... stepping down. I probably would, too, after that long. And then I'd enjoy my money.

The way you frame it, it's really nothing major. And there's a lot of validity to that. However, you have to consider that any major life/business decision that one of the richest people in the world makes is going to be newsworthy already. Given he's been running this company from the outset, and it's a company that has become one of the darlings of the stock market along with some other tech heavy hitters (the FAANG stocks), it's not only a big deal that someone else will be stepping in as CEO, it's something that could potentially have a major impact on people with money invested in any of those tech stocks. Also, in the current era, there's a non-zero chance we're going to find out there's a video of him doing some weird bestiality stuff with an elk or something while he was high on pediatric adrenochrome he acquired from Hillary Clinton, and he stepped down before the news dropped, so of course it is worth speculating about while we await the big news.

Imagine if the new CEO said 'We're going back to just doing books'

I guess it's not so much that Bezos is stepping down, it's that a new guy is at the helm.

But yeah, If I were Bozos, I'd want to enjoy my money earned of the backs of all the overworked and underpaid workers while I had the chance too
