There are thousands of accts suspended for minor and dubious reasons. Of course he has to hire people to handle it, because there are also thousands of accts suspended for legitimate reasons. It's very easy for lefty media to pretend it's only the "alt right" who have been unfairly banned, but the truth is that Twitter has banned many people on the left for expressing completely ordinary opinions, and stating facts.

I hope Meghan Murphy gets her account back soon!

I actually think overall it's possible for this takeover to be a good thing.  As far as I can tell there'll still be moderation but maybe it'll be more, um, moderate.

The big hiccup I see in all of this is Elon needs to bring costs down because the company is now 13 billion in debt but, like you said, he needs to hire humans to sort out the bans and those cost money.

The main thing of interest, account reinstatement is going to offloaded to some sort of council that doesn't exist yet.

He's changed his mind on that now.  Some kind of thing where you can choose your channels or something.  Including unmoderated "player vs player" areas, or ones for certain topics.  So the "town square for the planet" will become a bunch of squares presumably - seems crazy to me. 


It's like he's spent $44B without really having a plan at all.  I bet some of the guys at the banks are feeling a bit queasy now...

All the blue check journalists are jumping for joy. Never mind that the Saudis have been invested in Twitter since 2011.

Here’s my problem, this makes no sense, “the lefty media” are pretending the “alt right” have been unfairly banned, ignoring those on the left that have been.
I consider myself left wing, and I no longer recognize myself as the people that are being castigated here, as a “lefty” I do not get involved in gender or cancel culture, or back pedophiles and men in women’s prisons, for me the poor being asked to pay more of their disposable income than the rich in taxes, take pay cuts while they dodge paying anything, see public spending cuts while oil companies who are responsible for the climate crisis and the misinformation that surrounds it bank billions per quarter, these are leftist concerns, the fact we are supposedly on COP28 (or whatever) with no or little chance of reaching an agreement after 23 years, where 70% or more of the earths denizens are in danger of extinction, the water quality is shit, the fish are declining and the lungs of the planet are being burnt and uprooted for unsustainable profits, these are leftist concerns.

So, I need a new label, or people are going to have to weather my rants every time they call something leftist, especially from a country that has no left wing just differing shades of mental.

Well you are right, they are not lefty (I didn't say leftist because I think that has a real meaning). They are pseudo-left, just as most "left wing" politicians in the US are. Maybe I should start calling them leftish. I know real left wing politics involves class analysis. The leftish media of the US would rather we not notice that they are at the top of the hierarchy. They accuse everyone who disagrees with their rhetoric of being "alt-right", and then people just believe them because they perceive them to be actually to the left politically.

It's probably a dumb stunt.

However there is one angle to this that might be relevant. Musk owns Twitter. Musk also owns SpaceX. SpaceX is an Aerospace company. There's no such thing as an Aerospace company that doesn't heavily overlap the defense industry. It might be worth investigating that there's an adequate separation between foreign investors in Twitter and SpaceX.

But even if this were the case then it's probably something better done quietly.

As a lawyer Im going to do research to see if @elonmusk in any way lied on his application for US citizenship. I'll be making a FOIA request for his immigration application. If he lied anywhere on application we will move to strip him of US citizenship. Stay tuned.
