He's literally carrying a sink into Twitter. idk what that means! https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1585341984679469056?s=20&t=ecjKsJGbA--vrrejsLpzhg  I'm sure the Washington Post will explain it all. lol

LET THAT SINK IN!!!
Elon get off 4chan lmao.
Why would that be inciting terrorism?  Lorddave was merely describing a type of shop we have here in the US, a bomb-gun shop.  A shop that sells bomb-guns.

Personally I think the joke is fresh and spicy Shifter. Elon deserves to wear the stupid grin. It was absolutely genius.

I couldn't access Twitter for six months due to the slander of giving misleading information about Covid, and I asked Elon to buy it and remove the ban; one or a year and a half ago. I don't understand why this has taken so long. Oh sure, you don't always carry $44 billion with you. Anyway, that's not my problem.

At least you've learned that one of the first things he'll do is unban me. It doesn't matter how, but if you mark and restrict anti-vaccine people as enemies in your Twitter, Twitter may slip out of your hands. I hope everyone learned the right lessons. Has he got it? I do not think so. Divine justice? Oh come on. He has nothing with being a good human. If he was a good boy, he should have sent me $10 billion, s.b.

Idgaf how he spends it. He can be a raging success or go broke. Makes no difference to me

But it's obvious he's stuck in this uber expensive deal he did not want to follow through on. 'Let that sink in' suits him better than the few people around the world that are upset. Twitter isn't even that popular. Most people around the world don't even give a fuck about it and couldn't care less if it failed or grew. I'd also bet most twitter users don't give a damn about whose in charge, just so long as they can continue to tweet like a twit

It wasn't exactly his money.

A lot of it was borrowed from the likes of Peter Thiel and Saudi Arabia, those known champions of free speech.  A lot of the money came from selling his Tesla stock which has had a pretty negative effect on the other stockholders. Not that I care about that.  I don't have any Tesla stock.

If you happen to drive a Telsa then this is not great.  That's a huge amount of money that could have been reinvested into the company. Oddly enough there's not a lot of synergy between a company that makes electric cars and a company where libtards and racists try to troll each other publicly.

Seems a bit premature. I don't think even Elon knows what he's going to do. The only decision made so far is that Twitter has an insufficient number of sinks at their HQ.

I'm not sure much is coming from Peter Thiel?  How much is he meant to have put in?  Your link shows Larry Ellison's fund putting $1B in - maybe you are getting two rich wankers mixed up?.  The Saudis already own a chunk of twitter.

After Musk, the main funding is coming from the big banks - they in for $13B.  Though they probably wish they weren't.

How do you work that out?  Musk is selling some of his equity in the company to fund it - he's not using Tesla's money.  Tesla is publicly traded, not privately owned.

On a side related matter it seems it's just a bad time to invest in social media shit. And Facebook / Meta only has a fraction of the subscribers that Twitter has and its tanking. And there are so many clones of Twitter it's becoming even more irrelevant. Couple that with Musk's belief that a sizeable portion of users are simply 'bots' and you have yourself a bad deal

Companies live or die based on advertising (that no one pays attention to anyway lol). If Elon is unpopular enough and if Twitter does become a cesspool than enough advertisers might just pull the plug given many pander to woke idealism

Given the whiney liberals have little to lose and Elon inherited a modern day 'MySpace' he paid $44 billion for.... Let that sink in Elon!!! dumbarse

Perhaps Elon can just beg his followers for money and people have to pay money to use it that can be matched 10x!

An interesting change of tone.  His position on free speech absolutism seems to have softened a bit.  Some might say that he caved to the advertisers.

Or that journalists went overboard describing him as a free speech absolutist. I know, he said "Sorry to be a free speech absolutist" regarding Starlink not blocking Russian news sources, but I would say that is an entirely different situation to moderating a website.

Don't worry guys, we just have to believe and we are saved

Quote
Musk wrote in a statement attached to the tweet: “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilisation to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”

He added: “That is why I bought Twitter. I didn’t do it because it would be easy. I didn’t do it to make more money. I did it to try to help humanity, whom I love.”
He loves us!  Don't you see what that means?  We just have to let Musk (and Twitter) into our hearts and we are saved.  Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!

I recall quite some time ago an interview with the founders of twitter, I think Stephen Colbert was doing the interview but I could be wrong.

He asked what exactly twitter's business model is.  The founder shrugged and said something to the effect of "well something will come up".

I wonder if he could have predicted this outcome.

The main thing of interest, account reinstatement is going to offloaded to some sort of council that doesn't exist yet.

Apparently Kanye getting out of Twitter jail was the previous owners decision.

I don't think Elon is going to be savior the alt right thinks he'll be.
