What does flat-earth theory say about planets?
« on: May 14, 2016, 10:52:03 AM »
Is Earth the only supposed flat planet?  And does it follow different physics than all the other planets?

We don't know if there are other flat planets. Maybe there are!
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Nope.  The qualifications of a planet include that it has been collapsed into a globe by gravity.

I think you're having trouble with the stick again. EAT FIBER.

Yes, your planet definition is correct, but the OP asked about other flat planets. Perhaps he should have said flat worlds instead, so you can avoid becoming impacted.

No, there are no flat worlds, here or anywhere.  Any body with enough gravity to be a "world" will be collapsed into a ball.

Who said the Earth is a planet?  Plants float around above your head.  The Earth is below your feat.  Why would you assume they are the same things?

About 2000 years of empirical scientific study?
Why would that be inciting terrorism?  Lorddave was merely describing a type of shop we have here in the US, a bomb-gun shop.  A shop that sells bomb-guns.

Who saw the Earth above their heads 2000 years ago?

Why is Earth the only flat planet?  And why does it follow different physics than all the other planets?
OP
Its sad to see 4 people come to the thread and not one attempt to answer your question seriously, and instead poke fun at the words you used.

Why is Earth the only flat planet?
It is my understanding that most modern FE's believe that earth is the only world (you used the word planet and its quite fine.) That all the stars in the sky along with everything you see in the sky is simulated, moon included I believe (opinions differ on how satellites work and the ISS and stuff in space, so I can't comment much on how they wrap their head around the whole "space doesn't exist and satellites aren't real" thing.)
As to why the earth is the only flat place of existence, I've read that most FE's assume the existence of a creator(s). They akin our existence to to us being observed through the dome by some unknown force. Put an impenetrable sky above us we can't penetrate that gets colder the higher we go and less breathable, and put below our feet a crust of considerable distance and increase in temperature as you go further down to stop all those pesky humans in the dome from exploring much up or down. So maybe you answer lies in the question. Why not? A simulated world, real or unreal, can yield some interesting results when played out in full. Maybe we exist as an experiment? I don't actually think a solid answer can be presented to your question until we completely understand the nature of the world we live in. However, it is an interesting question and I hope more attempts are made at it that aren't trolling or poking fun at you.

I do believe the wiki attempts to answer you second question however. It does a decent job as well describing the physics. Hope that helps OP and best of luck in your search for the truth.

Thanks for addressing the question TheSchwa1337.  I appreciate it.  I came across this site and just wanted to understand the thinking behind it.  The answers I'm after are about how this flat-earth thinking works.  And I'm proceeding politely.  I sure don't doubt my college education :)

How do we know earth isn't the only flat planet?
The other planets could be disks for all we know.
NASA is pretty good at faking images with photo-shop and CGI.  (WELL, they are pretty awful at it actually)

This is from a thread 3 years ago.  (Thanks Googleotomy)
"There seem to be various ideas. A lot of them seem to be conflicting depending on which FE you hear from.
So I'll list some that I have heard.
Here are some I have heard.:
One of which is that there are no planets.
Planets do not exist.
Photos of a spherical earth and planets are fakes.
The earth is unique.
It is not round like the other planets.
The waters of the oceans are held in by an ice ring around the edge.
There is an ice canopy over the earth to contain the "atmolayer."
Stars are just tiny light specks attached to the canopy.
The earth is a disc like a phonograph record.
Since photographs of the planets are two dimensional they are also discs.
So is the sun and the moon.
I haven't seen any information on the thickness of the earth. The bottom side is made of rock.
The earth is continually accelerating upward by some force called "UA" or Universal Acceleration.
The earth does not rotate.
Some ideas seem to say that it is just the sun and moon that rotate around the earth."

Now I'm sure you have even more questions, lol, but hopefully this keeps you researching.  :)
