So...I'm confused...
« on: May 10, 2016, 04:38:48 AM »
What is the earth situated on or in if it is flat? Do you believe we are still in space? What's under the earth if it is flat? Is the atmosphere round or is that like a block above us? Do you believe in the atmosphere?

Just want genuine flat earth believers answers please...I'm genuinely intrigued how this is a thing people actually believe.

Oh and last question - where do the poles fit into this hypothesis?

The most commonly accepted ideas, as far as I know:
What is the earth situated on or in if it is flat? ... What's under the earth if it is flat?

I personally don't know what the FET responses for these two.

Oh and last question - where do the poles fit into this hypothesis?
All believe the North Pole exists at the center of Earth. Official FET states there's actually a wall of ice stretching around the world at Antarctica and the South Pole doesn't exist. Dual Earth Theory says there's two separate planes, and the South Pole is the center of the "bottom" one.

They do not believe we are in space, and many believe the atmosphere is somewhat round--there's the "atmolayer" contained by a dome-shaped Firmament that starts at that ice wall and reaches its maximum height above the North Pole, and the stars are beyond the firmament. All of it is above us. I don't know about DET's explanation.

I also know that there's a lot of different Flat Earth Theories because everybody's come up with their own personal ad hoc. This post is just a quick summary if the common ones. Especially for the ones about what's under the earth I'll have to let others fill in with what they believe.

Your first mistake was to presume there would be an academic debate anywhere on this forum.

The earth sits on nothing - or at least nothing we know about. We believe in 'space'. We have no idea what is under the flat earth, though I have cast the hypothesis that there may be a submoon, explaining tidal interactions. The atmosphere is an atmoplane. Yes.
If you ccan't argue both ides, you ?understand eithr

Translation: I ignore all evidence that doesn't fit my preconceived notions.

Submoon?  Wait wait...how do you suppose that would explain tidal interactions?

The FE model MUST have the N.Pole in the middle. That is why there MUST be an Antarctica conspiracy. See this: (http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=65369.0)

Keep in mind (1) BOTH maps have EXACTLY the same distortions, especially around the edge. (2) The distortions are hidden by oceans near Antarctica and fish don't complain. You can even make S.America and Australia the right proportions with an azimuthal NON-equidistant projection because any changes will be in the oceans. This CAN NOT happen with the S.Pole in the middle. There aren't enough oceans near the Arctic to "fix" N.America, Europe and Asia. (3) No one would even consider a FE for a second if the S.Pole map was presented. Alaska is NOT some 25,000+ mi away from Europe (shorter distance to go through Antarctica! Tell THAT to the stupid airlines). Alaska, Canada, Europe, and Russia are NOT those shapes. Keep in mind the EXACT same distortions are on N.Pole type maps.

Also, this may help explain the poles: (https://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=66457.0)

That is where they fit... Hope this clarifies your confusion...
