Someone please explain this.
« on: February 07, 2016, 11:30:11 AM »
This is a photo that I did not take but it is something I witnessed firsthand on a boat ride from Indiana Dunes state park to Chicago.

It's something anyone can witness with binoculars on a clear day at Indiana Dunes State Park and there are lots of photos of this from a variety of sources online.

28 miles away

It seems to me that either the earth is round or Chicago is underwater.

Nice photo of a big, beautiful, bulbous earth.

I'm surprised no one has yet attempted a hypothesis for the picture in the link above.

Did I blow some minds with this one?

Can you explain the perfect 1 pixel (height) white line across the top of the water.  It looks to me like someone was trying to pull the water right above that level in photoshop or they forgot to delete the line.

Oops.

I don't have to there are hundreds of pictures online of the Chicago skyline from various places around Indiana Dunes State Park. You can look through them yourself just search for "Chicago Indiana Dunes" on google images.

For those that don't know the curvature of the earth: For an observer standing on a hill or tower of 100 metres (330 ft) in height, the horizon is at a distance of 36 kilometres (22 mi)

You might notice that the shoreline is not visible, and the bottoms of the buildings are chopped off. For instance the Chase Tower in this photo is 850 feet tall and the bottom 1/3 is not visible.

So is this above or below the photoshopped part of the image.

Ok Noted...

You have to admit some of these are fake.  As for the others, I believe if you had enough magnification, and see through the atmosphere, the full structure would come into view.

Please show what you believe is faked or shopped.

You clearly do not understand focal length. No amount of magnification can see around a curve.

Even the setting sun agrees.

In one picture you only have the tops of the buildings showing because of the curve.  In another picture you have nearly the entire structure except the bottom showing because of the curve. But you can't see around a curve. You're not making any sense.

Indiana Dunes State Park is about 15 miles long running mostly east to west. The Western side of the park is closer to Chicago than the Eastern side. Not to mention that some of these photos may have been taken from a boat or somewhere else close while someone was on a trip to Indiana Dunes. I think it's fair to assume that distance accounts for the variation in the skyline that you are seeing. Those pictures taken from further away would see less of the skyline sticking up over the curve of the earth.

Here's a great 4k video showing the same as above. Best shots around 0:45 and at 3:30
I believe this should also address the question of magnification

We have known for a long time that every photo showing evidence of the Globe is by definition a fake,
and every photo purporting to show a flat earth must be genuine, yes we are learning!

Where has Chicago gone?  Oh yeah, the curvature of the earth has hidden all but the tops of the very highest buildings.

And it's only the fact that the photograph was taken at an elevation that meant the tops of the buildings could be seen.  This doesn't make any sense on a flat earth - you should be able to see the whole city.

As many times as you and other "FErs" stop ignoring possible refraction and include small elevation over the ground. And do an accurate math, not roundins like you did in the link.

You mean the distance you measured from Diversey Harbor (a significant increase in distance from where the buildings in the picture are) and downtown new buffalo (several blocks from shore) didn't work out? Hmmm I wonder why that could be?

Nice photo. The people living there aren't.
The Bible doesn't support a flat earth.

Scripture, facts, science, stats, and logic is how I argue.
