Absence of curvature?
« on: January 28, 2016, 06:14:31 PM »
Isn't it obvious that the absence of a curve is tied directly to the fact that YOUR SIZE, is way too small in relation to Earth, to be able to notice any curvature at all. Like an ant walking on an exercise ball.

Of course it is.

The magnitude of a curvature is just undetectable by a human eye from the sea level.

The ant would however have more chance noticing any curvature on such a small ball.

FEers expect curvature to be easily visible, and any time they present some videos/pictures about thhat, they picture the Earth like it was ~100km or smaller in diameter. This is laughable.

I think your earth is a bit small!

If you take the ant as 1/8" (3 mm) long (small ant)  and the person 5' 6" (168 cm), the "ball" would need to be about
14 miles (23 km) in diameter to be the same scale to the ant as the earth is to a person
(if the ant is standing up on its back legs!)
The Globe is big!

It truly is.
