Come'on guys really? It's really making you look bad when you have to resort to this kind of response.

Anyway, I find it very entertaining that NT, has jumped on this so hard.  I feel so sorry for him.

After a quick look at his tweets,  I don't think he's as smart as scepti,   ( and that's not a compliment to scepti )

My money is on publicity stunt,   he saw  Tila Tequila,  rise in the publicity stakes,  so this is a stunt.  There will be more to come.

I'm going to invest all my savings in the  Acme Tin Foil Hat Company.    I predict a sharp rise in demand.

I always admired Neil deGrasse Tyson for his clear logical explanations.   I have a new found respect for the man,  the way he did the all time classic "mic drop"  and that's gravity.  Shows he has a level of internet savvy, that left poor BoB,  in ruins.

Lovely to watch.

I know it was all for show, but I take issue with a few things he said (I only watched about 2 minutes of the 4-ish minute clip):

1. I don't know of any presidential candidate, ever, that has believed the Earth was flat.
2. His demonstration was not of gravity, but of gravitation.
3. The Equivalence Principle states that #2 would have happened in a non inertial frame of reference, also and could not be distinguished.

So this is all very telling for a person that just crapped all over someone for their statements 'when they have the ability to influence', and here is Tyson doing the exact same thing.

Yes, I do.  Ironically, the same people he was putting down in his skit (as you have alluded to with your comment), which they were all laughing to.  They were all having a good laugh at basically being called ignorant.

Yes, and that drives to the heart of my point.

Tyson stated that we (as a nation) have become 'anti science' (paraphrasing here) and that we are basically all unintelligent.  He uses a clearly dumbed down example to prove a point (an incorrect one) to the very same people he just called unintelligent, to which they ate it up with uproarious laughter because he is a person with influence. He slams BOB for having an absurd position since he is a person with influence.  Tyson, then goes on to imply that there is a group of presidential candidates that also believe the Earth is flat.  An absurd statement, which he spouts as a person with influence.   Hypocritical.
