I never thought about investing in doing paralysis and destruction.  I just eventually switched my play style to stealth + backstab after destruction wasn't quite having the punch it needed anymore.  When those damn Draghr Deathlords were actually giving me problems it helped to have another strategy.  One at a time they're easy, but three or more of them were just mauling me.

Just use the disarm shout and they're fucked.

I know. But it just seemed too cliche to make an elf magic user.

Retrospective review: this game was okay, but not that great. 4/5 because it was still much better than 90% of games.

You're going to have to be more specific than that if you want to join the ranks of the FES Critical Snobs.

Retrospective review: this game was okay, it feels great in the beginning since you're playing a brand new TES game holy shit, but once the novelty wears off, you notice it's nothing but a series of repetitive fetch quests with boring and broken combat. 2.5/5. Play Dark Souls instead.

Basically. The world looks and feels great, and there are some significant improvements to the gameplay mechanics, but my god, the quests are dull as ditch water. Bigger rant to come.

Bethesda seems to think that a long and monotonous dungeon crawl is all you need to make a good quest.

Frankly they should stick to it more. Every quest that's even slightly more complicated than "get the thing and kill all the things between you and the first thing" is riddled with glitches.

You don't think that might have something to do with the fact that so much of their energies are devoted to designing the dungeons rather than fixing glitches?

Well, there's only about five dungeon designs in the game, soooo... no.

Pretty sure I said this before, but I found Skyrim to be the least glitchy of all Bethesda games I've ever played.  Don't see everyone's problem with it.  Also I wish there were more silly quests like the "Night to Remember" line.

The three or four cookiecutter dungeons? Shit, you could make those procedurally and nobody would notice if you add in a few nice touches at the end. I think they just have an incredibly successful series and they don't give a fuck about details like making sure their massive beautiful world actually works.

For all those that think the quests are boring, what would you do to make it more interesting? I would say that this is a fairly interesting game with a good mixture of different types of quests. If anything my argument with the game is the ridiculous travel time it takes between sometimes going places.

The quests are better than WoW quests.  At least they have a good reason.
In WoW it's a farmer who needs you to get his vegetables from the farm.  In Skyrim it's some weak archeologist who needs you to clear out some ruins.

I was disappointed we couldn't go into Oblivion at least once and kill some Daedra.
