Conspiracy motivation

I've read on this forum, in terms, that the space-flight and moon-landings conspiracies are financially motivated, viz, NASA tell the US government they need funding for such activities and then spend it one something else.

Books etc which I have read (or at least looked at the pictures) which show the earth as a globe date back a fair amount of time. If this is in fact incorrect and the earth is a disc, then the lie of a round earth has been perpetuated from a time before space travel was likely considered as a possibility. Before NASA existed and could soak up funds, what was the point of pretending the earth was round? While I agree that power generally is a motive, I'm less inclined to believe that knowing the truth about the shape of the earth would keep conspirators interested for a prolonged period of time.

Maybe this has been talked about already. If so I'd be grateful for a link to the discussion.

I'm not a believer, but since neither are you, they won't answer your questions. According to their FAQ page, the reason either money, military power, or they don't actually know. As money clearly doesn't make sense, that leaves the last two. They just won't admit it, for some reason. If someone gives a decent answer to your question in this thread, it'll be the first.

There are many books which show the earth is flat, and these do date back some time.  One of which is the bible.  Can you show me some of these pictures of the Earth (as a globe) taken from before NASA claimed to have travelled in space?

There is an actual, tangible device that you can hold in your hand. Not only does this device in the dash of my car exist in the sense that there actually is a device in the dash of my car, and is not just an hallucination, it also tells me how to get where I want to go from where I am at the time I ask for directions. If what you said was just a poorly thought out way to imply that it's just another piece of the puzzle in some vast conspiricy, you would first have to backtrack and say that this is what you meant, and then offer some plausible explaination for how this device does what it so obviously does. How does this device determine my location if not from the air?

Do a quick search for psuedolites and stratalites.  They don't say GPS does not exist but that they technology is not satellite based but a function of multiple differing methods to simulate a satellite system.  The GPS works - its a conspiracy that it uses satellites.

GPS exists, of course it does.   I dont think he meant to say what he said - the point is, satellites are NOT what makes GPS work.  THAT is part of the conspiracy.

GPS works by triangulation, the "GPS" signals come from towers all over the planet.   It works just like the wiki page says in a mathematical way - but there are to "birds" in the sky.   It's all done from beacons right here on the earth.
