What's it like, yo? What's a nice, mid-sized city with opportunities for good education and low tuition and living costs for foreigners?

Ya, but she was talking about tuition and living costs, which means that she is either looking into a charter school, (in which just signing up to be a foreign exchange student is cheaper anyways) or a university.

Just looking at some figures, I came up with this:

50th percentile tuition: £8,600/$13,700 per year (classroom-based, undergraduate)
Average living cost: £9,000/$14,350 per year

So around $28,000 per year. Not to mention other costs to actually get into the country, such as
medical insurance
travel insurance
student visa
baggage
travel
phone
television licence
et cetera

Practically any European country provides cheaper education for non-EU citizens than America does for Americans.
Also, your living costs are about twice as much as they should be, and they include things you want her to include again.

I was going to say college/university, but the usage of those words is different in America and the UK.

I'm at Sheffield, which is a lovely city; it's a good uni as well.

I checked out Aston, which was pretty nice, but the SU was awful, compared to Sheffield's. (Officially the best in the UK, I believe)

Went to check out Leeds, kinda scummy city.
