FIXING ELECTIONS
The loss of William Jefferson's congressional seat in 2008 was the clinchpin in the loss of black political power in the racist politics of post-Katrina New Orleans.
Jefferson's district was overwhelmingly black, and he usually won handily, but he was defeated in late 2008 by a Republican by only a few hundred votes. This familiar phenomenon of a right-wing victory by an extremely narrow margin in an region where the right has no backing occurs very often in corrupt Latin American dictatorships. Currently, every latin american country has a left-of-centre government with the exception of:
1) Mexico where (about five years ago) Calderon defeated the PRD (socialist) candidate by less than 1%. It is virtually unreported in america, but the Mexican mafia just murdered the current PRD candidate who was well ahead in the polls. The implication is that the right uses the mafia to do its dirty work. (PAN represents the unfortunate reascension of the vatican in Mexican politics.)
2) Columbia which is the most corrupt goverment in the "americas."
3) Peru elected its first indigenous leader since the Inca king Tupac Amaru, but the problem is that he is a proverbial uncle tom - a sellout.
4) Honduras where the elected president was removed in a CIA backed coup, and now has a nationwide anti-government movement.
The right is not popular - so it uses other means to have the power to control people. William Jefferson's election was fixed. As far as that goes, Jesse Ventura has shown that Bush was never elected president of the United States. The populist 'American Free Press' newspaper has given details of how Kerry actually won the 2004 american presidential election. We all already know that Gore won in 2000.
New Orleans former mayor Ray Nagin was an ally of Councilman Jim Singleton. These were the oreos - black sellouts. Their enemies were the allies of William Jefferson and Marc Morial - son of New Orleans first black mayor who is now the head of the National Urban League, one of the principle civil rights organizations in black history.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_MorialMorial had to leave New Orleans or they would have sought to put him in prison as well. The leaders of black churches are the hard core of leadership of black people in southeast Louisiana. I have noticed that black people (at least down here) tend to have more faith as a whole than white people. Most black people here on a Lord's day do go to church, and wear their best clothes - an indication that they take it seriously. Far fewer whites go to church - not a significant part of the whole.
New Orleans now has a white mayor again for the first time since the 1970's. What do we need another white mayor for? We just had one for the past eight years.
