The game asteroids is on a flat plane.  But the top and bottom are connected, as is the left and right, allowing one to continue any journey in a given direction,  or even launch a pseudolite in an arc that could last many, many days.

BIG OLD EDIT:  If the link does not work, and has some default pcmanwebsite page, simply click on the www address and press enter.  It will then load the retrogame.

How could a game like Asteroids, which takes place in outer space, reconcile anything about the ice wall?

but I see the point you are trying to make. however, unless you believe that magic or God is responsible for returning people to the Earth from the ice wall, I don't see how this is compatible with physics. maybe an infinite number of wormholes exist around the ice wall that transport someone across the Earth.  ::)

In order for that to work, the Earth would need to be a donut.
I don't know what you're implying, but you're probably wrong.

No, silly. It would need to be like the Mercator map, but you have to think with portals!

This has been discussed before in terms of a fractal earth that "collapses" (much like a wave function).

Shouldn't that be a quantum earth?  Last I heard, fractals don't "collapse" into anything.

Long story short, in the discussion it was both.  It was a silly idea anyways.
