So, if the earth is flat then..?
« on: January 29, 2009, 02:09:12 PM »
I read the FAQ and I'm still not happy, so:

How come satellites orbit the earth?
Explain Seasons to me. And don't cut by, by saying its done by magic. I want a real answer.
How can you, a forum full of people who assume the earth is flat, think so many educated people can be wrong about everything?
Why we can see other round planets with the appropriate optical devices?
Explain why Shadows take time to cover the earth.
How come if I continue walking from my current direction, all the way around the earth, I end back up where I started?
Explain the Earth's magnetic field to me.

Also I see that most of you say, You shouldn't believe in something that is not observable. Alright then, I clearly have no internal organs as I can not see them. I'm that of a shell. Wait... HOW THE HELL AM I BREATHING?

Explain these to me. Anything mentioning Magic, A sentence with long words that doesn't amount to anything, or the fact just because the horizon is flat means the earth is flat will be discarded and put into the stubborn fail pile.

How come satellites orbit the earth?

They don't.

Read the FAQ. Detailed descriptions can be found in Earth Not a Globe.

How can you, a forum full of people who assume the earth is flat, think so many educated people can be wrong about everything

Throughout all of human history the greatest minds of the day have been wrong about nearly everything.

For example, only 400 years ago everyone thought that witches existed.

Only 60 years ago most doctors supported smoking.

What makes you think that the 'greatest minds' are any less wrong today?

Quote
Why we can see other round planets with the appropriate optical devices?

The planets are not the earth.

How come if I continue walking from my current direction, all the way around the earth, I end back up where I started?

East is always at a right angle to North. Therefore if you travel eastwards continuously it takes you in a circle around the North Pole.

Explain the Earth's magnetic field to me.

It's vertical at 90 degrees North, horizontal at 0 degrees, and vertical again at 90 degrees South.

Internal organs are visible during autopsies, x-ray, and surgery.

They don't.
They Do. Are you blind or something?

Throughout history the greatest minds of the day were wrong about nearly everything. For example, only four hundred years ago everyone thought that witches existed. What makes you think that man has stopped being wrong?

Everyone, meaning the majority, thought witches existed because they were superstitious about things. Throughout history the greatest minds of the day were wrong about nearly everything. For example, only eight centuries ago everyone thought that the world was flat. What makes you think that man has stopped being wrong? The earth being flat is the same as witches being real, we stopped believing that ages ago.

As for the smoking part. There is a big line between media and science. The Media isn't a reliable source. k?

The planets are not the earth.
The earth is a planet.

East is always at a right angle to North. Therefore if you travel eastwards continuously it takes you in a circle around the North Pole.

That would probably happen if one of my legs was shorter than the other. Which I'm pretty sure it isn't. I can measure it for you.

It's vertical at 90 degrees North, horizontal at 0 degrees, and vertical again at 90 degrees South.

Okay, now explain the third dimensional part which is obviously there.

Internal organs are visible during autopsies, x-ray, and surgery.

Haha, simpleton. All autopsies are staged. Even the x-rays are photoshopped. Have you not looked into this? You obviously need to read my FAQ.

FAQ:
Chapter 1 - Internal Organs what?!

1: X-rays are photoshoped.
2: Autopsies and surgeries are staged.
3: Ever heard of theatre blood? Yeh, they use that too.

Haha :D Also, the existence of witches and cigarettes not harming your health was based on assumptions. We know the world is round because all logic points that way, as well as valid evidence from images from space.

The problem I find with the FET is that you seem to try to disprove there being a round Earth. You take what we know to be true and then change it and claim it to be wrong in order to suit your needs when it clearly works perfectly without any real effort to work with a round earth. It's all common sense really.
So if global warming and the ice wall are real. We. Are. Fucked

All this talk of a flat earth is making me upset.  i have a degree in physics and ALL the reasons put on this sight are totally ficticous and wildly ignorant of the physical universe.  The 'conspiracy' cant be a conspiracy if there is no clear motive.  The FAQ says, "Financial Gain"...Some one please elaborate on how a round world produces revenue?  All the talk of 9.8m/s/s is so ignorant of real physics.

I've read many of the non-believers comments and most are totally sound with respect to the criticism of this point.  Please post your differential equations with respect to all your claims here.

If you fail to post the calculus, your a fraud.  This is unbelievable that adults swallow this.

All of the supporters should be ashamed of themselves, I really believe this site is a joke.

Again, I've read the FAQ and it was totally silly, please explain in scientific terms, how we have an atmosphere, what happens if you dig a hole deep enough, how we have day and night at different times on the planet...

And the WORST thing I read here, "The earth isnt like the other bodies, its special.."

That stinks of ignorance we've seen before from religion.

Your special alright, Special Ed...

Sorry, but this is a MAJOR flaw in your argument. You're saying that the Earth is flat, and yet it has a north pole. Poles are generally accepted as being the ends of the axis of a semi-spherical body. If so, where are the north and south poles of a flat earth? The north pole cannot be at the edge of the earth, because it would then become impossible to travel in a circle around it. It also cannot be in the center of the earth, because then the south pole must fall on an edge. A flat object can not have poles. Your argument is invalid.

Oops. I only read half the FAQ, that explains why my question wasn't answered. But still, that FAQ must have been very difficult to write, coming up with obscure reasons for occurrences which are easily explained by the RE theory. (A 'Shadow Object' causes moon phases?) Seriously, back in the 15th century they had enough trouble explaining the theory of a flat earth, and then Columbus came up with a perfectly sound theory which explained EVERYTHING. And now people want to go back to explaining the impossible???

EDIT: Maybe I was thinking of cucumbers...

Obscure reasons? Do they exist? There's no such person as Cocumbus, and nobody ever came up with a perfectly sound theory which explains anything properly, such are the flaws of science.
