Philosophy, Religion & Society / Wozniacki's impression of Serena Williams
« on: December 13, 2012, 03:22:35 AM »
Hello,

As you may or may not be aware there has been a fuss kicked up over the recent impression of Serena Williams by Caroline Wozniacki.

http://now.msn.com/caroline-wozniacki-p ... a-williams (Sorry for the poor source, mainly just a briefing)

With the point being raised that

“This is an old racist trope about our supposed hypersexuality and sexual abnormality,” commented Twitter user @hazzarDeuce on the Black Voices Twitter page.

So my question is this, is the claim that Black Women are steriotyped as hypersexual valid in the age of internet pornography where the vast majority of female performers are White?

Surely this would be indiciative of a steriotype that White women are hypersexual?

Thanks,

P.

Had to stop lurking just to say this was the funniest thing I have ever seen written about Mass Effect

Also true, however it was more a philosophical question of equalities and such, rather than a question of how it would work in practice.

I agree Thork, but that is an entirely different debate, lets say hypothetically that in this situation the state doesnt have to pick up the tab and the responsibility lies with the progenitors.

I am a believer of the idea that consent to intercourse does not equate to consent to carry a child, thus pro abortion.

I am also a believer in the idea that consent to intercourse does not equate to consent for fatherhood.

So I ask you TFeS, are you pro or against the 'paper abortion', whereby a man can abort the paper trail of the foetus, removing all responsibility for the child.

:( ur mean dave

Anyway, the reason I wanted to see if my reaction to 'totes not homework help lol" questions was typical

I mentor undergrads in Politics and I was asked if I wanted to have a discussion on whether 'The integration process has been too erratic to be explained by integration theories'. How much do you agree with this statement and why?

To this end I spouted a load of rubbish and left it at that.

An airplane accelerates down a runway at 3.20 m/s2 for 32.8 s until is finally lifts off the ground. Determine the distance traveled before takeoff.

A car starts from rest and accelerates uniformly over a time of 5.21 seconds for a distance of 110 m. Determine the acceleration of the car.

A race car accelerates uniformly from 18.5 m/s to 46.1 m/s in 2.47 seconds. Determine the acceleration of the car and the distance traveled.

jus wondering what your thoughts were

The Wasteland forums are pretty good for working out the heirachys of oppression.

Case in point

Women in the game "herpadurp chainmail bikinis"

Gay characters "if you dont include clearly stated homosexuals then you are a goddamn nazi"

I ask this question of you FES, mainly due to having watched the thread on Gay characters being included in Wasteland 2

http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=974

Some argue that homosexuality is a part of life now and thus will be there in the post apocalyptic world, others argue that the nature of the groups which make up the wasteland (survivalists, religious nuts etc) would stamp it out.

My thoughts are that homosexuality will be less tolerated, due to whatever is left of society being a shadow of its former self and would require every fertile body to produce the future generations.

So, your thoughts?

According to todays Metro there is some scientist geezer who is saying that dinosaurs were far more aquatic than we think, due to water being able to support their huge bulks far better than relying on their muscles alone.

Another win for FE Transcontinental Dinosaurs.

As a long term Resident of Leicester (Midlands city of the UK) I have seen firsthand peoples intrisic desires to stay with one another.

There is an estate near where I live which is reknown for its flights, as it is a place where the council will place newcomers.

Originally St Mathews was a white area, then came the Afro Caribeans so all the whites left for Oadby because they couldnt handle the groove, then came the Asians, so the Afro Caribeans buggered off to the Beaumont Leys estate, then the Asians flew to Evington because the Somalians came to St Mathews, and now with the polish population on the rise, the Somalians are now dissapearing from St Mathews.

tldr

peeps be haters

What is their deal, we are told they are colonies, but how can that work as a reproducing common animal.

Do the various parts of the animal all sneak off and mate with their counterparts and then magically find the corresponding parts and back stick together?

If anyone could shed some light I would be very greatful.

Listen up yo.

Right here.

James, New Earth, FES,

FEB! Represent the Flat Earth.

Yo, if you think the Earth is round, then this applies to you/ 'cause I'm here, in the house, to tell you what's true!
James is right here, to educate you young man/ 'cause real world geography is not quite how you planned!
You see, down in the centre, well it's awfully chilly/if you went without a coat then you'd be down right silly!
Then out from the Arctic, the continents span/Eurasia, America and Africa, man!
Around the outer rim there's a big wall of ice/if you think you'd like to go well yo, you'd better think twice!
Beyond is total darkness, which offers no perception/Don't be fooled by other stories, they're simply a deception!
The Sun and the Moon shine above us in a circular ring/Lit by bacteria, a miraculous thing!
So now I've told it like it is, and you know the score/so tell your friends straight up, you're not a roundie any more!

James has cemented his position as God now.

My dear Flat-Earthers and non believers,

I have come for help,

As part of my friends Masters dissertation I have to take part in a role play where I steal something, I then have to lie convincingly so they can see the most common defences, as it were.

Seeing as those that frequent this site are amazing debaters I was wondering if you would share any tips on how to demolish arguments, or tips for lying in general.

Thanks!

Flat Earth General / Re: The Supermoon
« on: April 01, 2011, 05:21:32 AM »
Can you please turn down the hyperbole a few notches?  People have been looking at the moon for thousands of years with no ill effect.
People have been smoking cigarettes for roughly 150 years and "experienced no ill effect". And then, suddenly, medicine has discovered that people did in fact experience ill effects. Whether or not you're a skeptic is none of my concern, but please, try to come up with a legitimate excuse to dismiss a warning, at least in public.
See also: petrol, alcohol, leeches (which used to be a "cure", mind you), STDs, etc.

Which people are these? Tobacco seems to have immense powers to increase longevity.

True, but it wasnt game breaking, as you still had to have high intelligence, charisma etc to do other things, rather than just taking lots of drugs and using magazines to do the easy thing in quests.

I say stick to the old fallouts, new vegas got boring so fast. Once you reach any level of skill with any weapon you become goddlike unless you play on very hard.

I would recomend you rent it rather than buy it, that is if you are on console.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Question on the UA
« on: November 08, 2010, 10:56:09 AM »
Update on my OP.

Disclaimer: I appologise for any inacuracies in the following post, I am not a physicist so is merely regurgitating what I heard. Feel free to correct me or elaborate on it.

I was talking to a guy I know at uni who does physics who spoke of an "ek pyrotic" universe I believe it was called.

He told me that its a theory of the universe in which two 'branes' collide and causes expansion.

The long and short of it all is that the branes are completely flat which goes back to my original point that maybe we are on the edge, being pushed out.

I wonder what other FErs think of the ekpyrotic theory or if they believe in another theory of the universe.

Thanks,

Polly

Flat Earth Q&A / Question on the UA
« on: November 08, 2010, 05:04:00 AM »
Long time no post.

I was wondering about the UA and by extention what drives it, then I struck upon the idea of the expansion of the universe, could UA be explained by the earth being at the edge of the universe, being pushed out, rather than being pushed up. It would also explain why the ice wall is inhabitable for life, simply because there is nothing there.

I await input, preferably from the FE camp as I wish to become more well versed in the theory.

Thanks.

Polly
