Flat Earth Debate / Re: What makes the earth accelerate in a FE model?
« on: April 16, 2013, 01:29:44 AM »
In the OP you asked what zetetic reason we have to believe that the UA exists at all.

When I step off my chair I can see that the earth rises upwards. This is a direct observation. I cannot see gravitons or the bends in space which are said to exist. A direct observation is far more empirical than an invisible explanation.

As per the functioning of the UA, the matter is unknown and immaterial to our experiences.
Besides getting technical with you, you're saying you dont get that falling feeling?

Drawing a triangle with 90 degree angles on a ball is not doing it on earth for starters and until one is done, it's pointless.
I see a few of you keep going on about navigating using a flat map that's derived from a globe map lol..what's all this about?
thats just lack of education on your part.  so what would happen on a round earth if someone needed a map?  everyone would be carrying a globe around?  lol.  you just dont know enough math to know how to project coordinates.  its like a university professor explaining high school math to a second grader.
You aren't teaching me anything.
Yeah I think most would have trouble with that task.

That's what you get for feeding on any propaganda.
According to this site the entire world and the entire internet is propaganda EXCEPT Flat Earth Society.  Or just the stuff that doesn't jive with your "theories".  ok this is getting nowhere
so it's pointless in picking out a whole unit as being this and that.
you didn't just write that, did you?  as in all countries and organisations being in on the round earth conspiracy?  this is rich.

Let's keep going.

As we all know North Korea dislikes USA, and they recently launched a satellite, so, are they also part of the conspiracy and have a secret arrangement with USA to not destroy the conspiracy?

Here are some more facts from North Korea.
This proves what exactly?

Maybe that proves how irrelevant an FEer can be :P
Where do you think you are going to get with silly little digs?
You came to this site to do what? did you come here to tell the FE believers how silly they are or did you come to try and find out where you have been going wrong in what you have been taught?

Remember...you came here and appear to be putting up topics asking questions, so if it's irrelevant, what are you doing here?

Irrelevance is what this site is all about.  go back 5 posts IMB is talking about NK Satellites and Bishop posts some fun facts site.  Where is the relevance there?
Are you deciding who can post what?
Tom Bishop posted about NK and if you look at the topic title, it might give you a clue are the relevance.
So by posting ANYTHING about NK is relevant?
It is when the topic is about organisations, lying.
riiiiight...lol.  prime example of avoiding the question.  So lets see...a country claims to put up a satellite and your angle is that is they made up some crap in the past then they didn't put up a satellite...got it thanks.

« on: April 10, 2013, 10:26:43 PM »
Then how can you demonstrate its existence? Gravity is demonstrable.

I drop a pen and watch the earth accelerate up to it.

According to the equivalence principle, isn't it just as valid to say that the pen is accelerating towards the earth?

I would think if the earth is accelerating towards the pen then the weight of objects have no bearing.  if the pen and say a brick are dropped (so essentially stationary in FE world) and the earth accelerates towards them, then they should both hit the ground (or the ground hits them) at the exact same time.

This thread is gold. It pretty much just curb stomps all the flat earthers into coming up with more bullshit. Don't expect any flat earthers to change their mind though. They are quite stubborn, and enjoy getting a rise out of people.

Yeah this site is just trollers.  Thork is backpeddling hard since the last time I was put a hole in his dinner plate theory.

Once again, we have a FAQ. I suggest you read it.

again no answer.  I can do the same and refer you to millions of documents on gravity.  Read what section you're in...Debate.

To be honest I am new here but I can already see the that FE followers can basically be categorized into three groups based on their reaction when faced with a difficult question:

1. Quiet ones: those who prefer to stay silent
2. Lazy ones:  those who suggest to read the FAQ without bothering to understand the topic
3. Noisy ones: those who propose nonsensical argument, although so far I haven't seen anyone of this group in this thread

Funny, I was about to write the exact same thing to you.  It's just a bunch of trollers.  I dont think any truly believes in Flat Earth!  They think Round Earth doesn't exist.  I think the Flat Earth Society doesn't exist.

hmmm...how about everything goes down?  any explanation on flat earth how that happens?  what causes an object to go down instead of any other direction with its weight?

I guess FE'ers don't disagree with the existence of 9.8 m/s force that keeps you "glued" to earth. They just don't believe that it is caused by gravitation. They said that the earth is constantly accelerating upward at a rate of 9.8 m/s. But if that was true, then that force would have been constant throughout the surface of FE which can easily be demonstrated as incorrect.

well lets see if one these jokers say that accelerating at 9.8m/s^2...hmmmm...wonder how fast we're moving...lol.  what the hell is UA?  United Airlines?  lol  use your words, muggsy

so just to add a little more...in the real world the horizon is just a few miles away but in flat earth I'm able to see thousands of miles away to where your curve would exist?  I just want to make sure I'm understanding this right.

surely you do not think the asking of a question, even if it were sincere, constitutes 'adding' to anything?

you are asking, in actual fact, for the adding to of your level of comprehension, if we ignore for a moment the obvious duplicity of your entire request.

again no answer...ill move onto another post

And dont give me your spelling error BS.  yeah I spelled apple wrong.  lets hear an answer.  do the apples discuss among each other?  or maybe just CUZ?

i feel unable to add to the varied and intelligent alternatives listed by you, to assist in the exciting activity of choice making that is mistaken for the act of thinking for oneself, by the thoroughly indoctrinated.

the presentation of lists giving the options inferred, at the very same moment of the completion of the question being asked, is indicative of the informed while unformed confused state of mind that is the goal of those that fear clear thinking people to increase in number.

your input would provide anyone who fears clear thinking with a sense of profound safety.

right, thanks for that and I'll keep that on the back burner for when I need a snooze.  Answer anyone?

The same question has been answered dozens of times. This site has a FAQ section.

another chicken out.  I seem to be able to do this on this site frequently.  when the going gets tough they either start non sequitur, divert from the question, start picking on grammer and spelling or now this.  its just a trolling site.  you dont see me sending you off to gravity.com.  this is the Debate section not the "im a chicken shit and here is where you find the answer" section.

Koolkat-sorry to say but you are dead wrong.  Nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.  Please read up on Special Relativity to learn more.

hey guy, where did I say anything can travel faster than the speed of light.  And you can go read on gravity.  I guess thats the end of the debate?  lol.  you guys need to call in some backup.  this is ridiculous.

And moreover, it is also easy to demonstrate that the gravitation is weaker at the equator than at the poles due to the centrifugal force or the earth rotation of the RE model. A 100kg object at the poles weigh less than 100kg at the equator.
Do you have any evidence to support this outlandish claim? Please post it if you do.

I'm well aware of the laws of motion, but they don't apply to gravity.

It's baffling how much stupid you can fit into such small sentences.
You're really going to have to stop with all this. You can't constantly call people stupid and then accuse them of trolling can you. Behave yourself man and just argue your case. If you want to call me stupid then use the rant section and really go to town. Now stop being a silly boy.

He's just saying what we're all thinking Sceptimatic. Despite how pointless it seems to try to educate you, let's look a little bit at why that was so stupid.

The laws of inertia states that a mass will maintain it's velocity unless acted on by a force. Throwing a ball in the air, it accelerates by the force from your muscles. Once it leaves your hand, it decelerates due to the force of gravity (or in your world a force equivalent to gravity).

So to say that you understand the laws of motion in one breath and to deny gravity in the next, and complain when people point out your stupidity, well I guess that's just thinking Sceptimatically!
There isn't any magical gravity force though.
The magical gravity force is there because it is needed for the globe model to work.
There is no force but the force that a person or machine puts on an object or an objects own weight/mass is put onto another object.
There is no such thing as gravity, that is my wholehearted belief.

If you believe in the law of inertia, then you believe there is a force acting on things to make them fall. Your beliefs don't enter into it. If you want to abandon the laws of motion, I don't really care, but I hope you can see why what you said is not even logically valid.
The thing that makes things fall is the weight of the object falling.

For instance. An apple on a tree on a thin branch will stay there until it starts to gain weight or grow, in which case, that weight will pull on the branch making it bend and so on and so on, until the apple is too heavy for the bud it's hanging from and eventually it's weight /mass makes it drop.
There is no force acting on it from outside of it, just it's own weight, which exerts it's own force on the branch and once it releases from the branch, the branch springs back up a little and the apple lays on the ground, exerting it's own weight/mass onto the ground.
The only force acting on the apple from tree to floor is it's own weight and wind speeds.
how does the apply know which way to fall?  why not up or sideways?  what makes it go in the downward direction?  sure you want to say everything has a weight but why all in the same direction?

... and every person that looks at the sky at night and decides to take a photo of the ISS flying by...

They have a photo of it flying by.

I wish you could scale down experiments.

I went to my back yard tonight and made three 90 degree turns. Guess what.  I did not make a triangle.

why do you think making 3 90 degree turns in your flat yard will work?  and how is this scaling down the experiment?  do you have a ball for a yard? lol

What you have written is wrong. Get a plate and a ruler.

Look at the top surface. Curvature on a flat object. The defence rests, Your Honour.

So with your dinner plate theory you're saying on flat earth we see the edge of the planet at all times?  so when we see the horizon we're actually looking at the wall of ice?  because this is where the curve is on the dinner plate.

Koolkat, you do realize that this argument stemmed from your misinterpretation of a post, don't you? Do you honestly think that Thork meant "see the curvature of a round earth"? He has been on this website for 4 goddamn years explaining the theory to noobs like you. He doesn't have to justify your troll response with an explanation. Why don't you come up with an original thought instead of arguing what another user implied in a post?
well I realize it stems from me catching his error.  I cannot believe anyone truly believes the earth is flat.  What is the reason for all the conspiracy?  And i see no theory explained except you simply don't believe all the years of research and pictures...why?  just because.  so unless someone physically takes you to space and shows you the earth its pointless.  any "original" thought I come up with will be replied with the typical playground response of "i dont believe you just cuz"

Nice non sequitur answer which is like most threads on this site.  Obvious trollers.  So no one has a real answer for me?

I don't know what would possess you to type those three sentences, as they are far from accurate. Thork basically said you haven't gone high enough to determine if there exists curvature. What's so unsettling about this? Even if he had actually meant "see the curvature", 0 degrees is still a measure of curvature, and it would be the corresponding measurement on a flat earth.

yeah I'm sure that is what he was referring to.  a 0 degree curvature.  lol.  sorry my bad.  you guys are stretching it.  Anywho what happened to youareatroll's post?  i think his comment made most sense that the question isn't whether the earth is flat or not, its whether this society is for real.  I don't think anyhow running this site truly believes the earth is flat.  this is just a made up site/society to try to push people's buttons.

Nice quote fail.  Also, youareatroll is in the lower fora now.
Really?  quote fail is your argument?  So you guys or guy have switched from non sequitur to avoidance?  maybe you can point out some spelling mistakes next?  lol
Wow.  I will keep the quote fail going because I have no real evidence that the Earth is a sphere.
AND back to non sequitur...lol  pick on quote fail BECAUSE you have no evidence that the Earth is a sphere.  That's about as intelligent as Question: How many jellybeans in the jar?  Answer: Volkswagon.
