With how badly gerrymandered most of the country is and how effective the GOP is at disenfranchising BIPOC, I would think it might be hard for them to lose that many seats anyways, especially with the courts firmly in their control now.

It takes quite a lot. You either need 2/3rds of your congress chamber to vote to expel you, or you need to lose a recall vote from your constituents, neither of which are likely to happen in this scenario.

Or he is from the northern areas of the state with very little population density. We have similar people in our state legislature in Tennessee who get in from the very rural areas and only ever get out of politics if they choose to or move up to the federal level.

Tho there is the issue of admissability of evidence. As I'm sure Tom is an expert on, not all evidence obtained can be used in court. Illegally obtained evidence, such as a laptop that was illegally given to the republican party by a repair shop, may not be admissable in court.

Short answer:
Since the government (FBI) didn't get the evidence in a legal way (the GOP basically stole the laptop and hacked into it) then no evidnece on that laptop is admissable in court unless it was inevitable that the FBI would get the evidence. Since it wasn't, they can't even get a warrant to gather more evidence.
So if MTG knew anything, she'd know that because the GOP took the laptop illegally and went through it (also illegally) for evidence of wrongdoings, the entire laptop is worthless as evidence.

And unless Hunter Biden had no security on his laptop, they must have logged in somehow. Or taken out the drive and read the data. Or, the laptop shop gave them the password that Hunter gave them to log in.
In any case, the only people authorized to access the laptop were the people at the repair shop and Hunter Biden. Anyone else and its hacking and therefore illegal.

It seems the law is fuzzy. There is a law in Delaware stating that abandoned property becomes the property of whoever has it. But that only applies to tangable items. Data or copywrites do not transfer over. But this is personal data on a HDD so the law is untested.

So the House has decided after 7 months or so that maybe letting Ukraine fall to Putin wouldn't be so great for us in the long run. They are now hammering out the details of an aid deal. But MTG, an extremely serious legislator, has some amendments she'd like to put in.

Another possibility is he thought Ukraine could hold out without our aid then changed his mind on reassessment.
