Flat Earth Q&A / Flat-Earthers, can you explain this?
« on: March 16, 2007, 01:21:21 AM »
As a response to this thread: http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=11525.0

So how do you explain this, Flat Earthers? This is plain and undeniable proof that magic exists.

As you can see with your own eyes, there is no trick to it, it's real magic.

It's been a lot of hubbubb about peoples ages recently. So here goes nothing:

I'm 17.

And you?

Edit: Btw, please don't write anything but your age here. Don't start a discussion on something irrelevant to the topic.

Flat Earth Q&A / Live from space
« on: December 15, 2006, 09:53:56 AM »
Some time ago I mentioned a spacecraft taking of from Sweden. Well, it's very big in sweden now, since the swedish astronaut has been waiting for over 10 years to go into space. And now he's there, so it's on the news all the time. Here's a link to a live cam from the spacecraft.

mms://209.73.191.127/bcenc202231?StreamID=30968858&pl_b=00D90C0887D9D19CCD3F724F7F457DD019&Segment=149773&CG_ID=1369081

(the cam is cycling to different screens all the time)
Very exciting!

Flat Earth Q&A / Credibility of FE in everyday life?
« on: December 10, 2006, 11:06:55 AM »
Honestly, everytime I watches anything on the TV that could be connected  to the FE theory, I always consider the credibility for the theory. There was a space-shuttle launch here in Sweden today (I think it was the first one ever in sweden actually, cost around 400 million crowns to fund), and when I hear about something like that on the news, I'm always wondering if they're trying to hide the "truth" (FE) as they speak.. Everytime I see something that could prove as evidence for the conspiracy, I always put into consideration as if it was something that could speak for the FE model (Of course, the credibility eventually drops to zero everytime you start thinking about it - not implying that FE'ers don't think.).

Is there any other RE'er out there that does the same thing?

Flat Earth Q&A / Accellerating Earth
« on: December 02, 2006, 03:42:38 AM »
I didn't get any other answers than "We don't know" on the following quesstions the last time I asked them, but maybe now people have had the time to think about them:

* Flat Earth is travelling in a straight direction.

Can it tip over? Why/Why not?
Can it decrease/increase speed? Why/Why not?
Can it change direction? Why/Why not?

And explain how seismic activity have, or don't have, any effect on these elements.

Here's Beast's answers btw, the only fairly intelligent answers so far:

Flat Earth is travelling in a straight direction.

I would say "mainly straight direction" - we don't know if it's actually completely straight or if there is some variation.  Some experiments such as pendulum experiments suggest there that is some other directional motion involved.

Can it tip over? Why/Why not?

We don't know.  I would guess not because the energy pushing us forward is behind us, like if you blow up a balloon and let go of it, while it flies in lots of different directions - it has to keep generally facing the same direction relative to the propulsion and the direction.

Quote

Can it decrease/increase speed? Why/Why not?

Again, we don't know.  I would say that there are two possible outcomes.  Either it will continue on at the same speed for ever, or it will slowly slow down.  Maybe it is already slowing down, but a t such a rate that it is unrecordable.  Of course it's also possible that rather than a linear deceleration, it will just suddenly stop.  That would obviously be apocalyptic for the world as we'd suddenly experience 0 gravity.  No doubt the socialists will blame capitalism for this occurrence (as they should).

Can it change direction? Why/Why not?

We don't know.  Obviously it hasn't changed much as far as we know, but it could in the future.  It's hard to see a reason why it would change significantly.  Perhaps the propulsion is not symmetrical or perhaps we could fly through a certain higher density substance that would slow parts of it down.  This is merely speculation.  I think the answer would probably be that it could change direction for those reasons, but we can't be sure until it happens.

I would guess that it would have no activity although obviously we can't tell for sure.  It's just my impression that seismic activity is so small, relative to the entire Earth, that it wouldn't have any significant effect.

Flat Earth Q&A / Constellations
« on: November 20, 2006, 09:44:21 PM »
I move around the world, starting from Sweden (where I live) going first to America, then continuing on to Australia, and then back to Sweden.

Explain the following:
The star constellations in the west horizon from Sweden will disappear below the horizon as I travel to America. And when I continue on to Australia, the constellations will appear just above the east horizon (from Australia). Perfectly reasonable on a round Earth. When I get back to Sweden, the star constellations will once again appear just above the west horizon, nothing has changed. If the Earth was flat, this would seem a bit strange.

On a high enough ground, wouldn't you be able to use a telescope to see the edge of the flat earth?

Discuss.

Flat Earth Q&A / Other planets faces
« on: September 24, 2006, 04:13:11 AM »
According to FE, the Earth is light up by a "flat sun". I wonder what the other planets in our galaxy are light up from, since they have no flat suns of their own?

Flat Earth Q&A / Galctical gravity
« on: July 19, 2006, 04:22:38 AM »
If the planets doesn't rotate around the sun - since that would be impossible if the sun was disc-shaped/flat - then what do  they rotate around? Dark Energy?

(Pardon me for not searching through the whole forum to check if some one has answered this question before.)

Technology, Science & Alt Science / On God
« on: July 07, 2006, 08:35:44 AM »
Why is it necessary for God to exist?
More importantly: Why does religious people feel like it's necessary to believe in "him"?

Other questions:
Why would God punish anyone? (meaning hell etc.) Would it not be more appropriate to bring happiness to all of humanity? Why would he throw any of us into eternal damnation for commiting one small wrong (sin)?

How would we know about every little thing that God would think is right or wrong?

I'm curious about the answers I'll get.

Flat Earth Q&A / Atmosphere
« on: July 05, 2006, 09:55:41 AM »
I would love to hear how the atmosphere was made according the natural history of the flat earth. If the Flat Earth was travelling in a straight line in the beginning, before there was air or oxygen on earth, how did the atmosphere first develop?

Oxygen should have been pressed out on the sides of FE, rather than creating an atmosphere.

Btw, on the topic of atmospheres: The atmosphere can be concluded round using scientific methods.

To Dionysos, actually...

You seem like a pretty healthy FE'er.
What made you become a FE believer?
I ask you since none of the other FE'ers here have been able to squeeze out any good answers to this question already.

Looking forward to one intelligent answer (no irony).

Flat Earth Q&A / New questions for the FAQ
« on: June 22, 2006, 02:08:16 PM »
Since my original thread got kind of off-topic, and no one gave much attention too it, I decided to post them in a new thread instead.

1. ) Why are the faces of all other flat stars and planets always directed towards the earth? Why have we never seen the side or back of any of those bodies?

2. ) Why is it so that we can see other planets rotate (using telescopes)? This would not work, were those planets flat. This was mentioned in another thread, but it seems it was quieted down or something.  :?

Set those up in the FAQ.
