Meteors; Why does FE hate them?
« on: January 20, 2018, 02:17:14 PM »
When I read about the meteor exploding over Michigan recently
I thought to myself, "Wonder what FE thinks of this?"
So I googled it and watched some vid's, all at least a year old.

I'll tell you about them
But first I'll answer my question
FEs hate meteors cuz they don't fit in their way of thinking.

First one was by Jake Gibson.
He didn't like the way all the impact craters on the moon were round.
He figured they should have a scrape, or a ditch or something.

So now he has a premise, and he's going to test it.
Can you guess what he used to compare a huge rock impacting the moon?
Yup, you're right.  He shot a BB gun at a piece of fruit.
Now that is funny.

Second one was by Prepared Mind.
He hinted that it was NASA conspiring to do something (never really clear what)
And then came his proof.

Several pics/vids of meteors coming in at an angle,
Basically the same premise as the first vid.
Craters should have a ditch!

His proof?  A screen shot of Superman's space capsule
And the ditch it left after it landed on earth.

The 3rd one insisted all the craters were sink holes or volcanoes.
He kept on about hexagons, polygons and straight lines pointing to volcanoes
Also a lot of; this could be, that might be Arizona, don't know what that is

I will admit, the vid's were entertaining.
I laughed a lot.

I'm not great at computer stuff.
If the link above doesn't work, just google jake gibson crater
I just heard him say "I'm, gonna shoot the dirt with my BB gun"
And burst out laughing.
When he pulls out the piece of fruit, I was on the floor.

I will find the others and post

If this link doesn't work google "prepared mind moon crater paradox"
You can skip to 10:15 to see the Superman ditch.

Before the Superman ditch he actually shows how a crater
Might be formed.  Kinda just ignores it.

And Hollywood Superman ditch is correct.

Aside from the countless forum users that have no issue with them, whether they're leftover rocks from the formation of the moon and similar objects above the Earth, or falling from the dome. Cherrypicking a few videos, especially given most viewed videos would be made to express arguments rather than a model, in order to go off on a spree of mockery doesn't make you look much better than them.

I am flabbergasted.

EDIT: Brevity is the soul of wit. Why do all these videos need to be so long? Then again, it has this pythonesque vibe to it.

First, I didn't say forum users hate meteors,
I said FEs SEEM to hate meteors.

I didn't cherry pick the videos.
I googled "flat earth moon craters".
The 3 I referenced were the top 3 that came up.

I'm sorry but I watched all 3
And when the one guy said he was gonna shoot the ground with a BB gun,
Don't know what else to say but my goodness, that is funny.

By the way, countless is a rather large number.
Probably larger than all of this forum's users.

Meteor impact

Can you please explain to me why when airplane fall from the sky they don't create perfect round crators like the moon?

Actually can you please show me 1 moon crater that is not round?

We don't have a problem with meteors the SE have the problem. If the Universe is billions of years old, why do we still have rocks in Space, the gravitational pull of all the sun's and planets should have cleaned them up.

In reality, the dome is above the stars and thus the meteors would be under the dome and thus falling on earth.

I hope I was able to clarify this for you.

Because aircraft don't hit the ground at the speeds meteorites and meteors do. The crater formed is not simply as a result of a rock falling down. It's a super fast rock with oodles of kinetic energy creating a massive explosion with material being ejected in ALL directions. Ejected material form the crater.

Quote
When a meteor hits the lunar surface, a shockwave spreads out in all directions and the impact creates a dent in the surface that is much bigger than the size of the impacting object itself. Since the impact sprays ejecta in all directions in equal proportions (just like the shockwave of an explosion), the direction and incident angle of the impact become irrelevant in determining the shape of the crater.

There's a nice picture on this site to help you. I don't know how to put pictures up here. Maybe someone can help.

The short answer why craters are mostly round is that the energy involved in an impact is so huge that when the impactor hits the ground, it explodes like a bomb, rather than just denting the surface like a rock thrown into mud. Explosions are generally symmetric, so the resulting crater from most impacts is circular. Only very very shallow impacts form elliptical craters, but they do exist!

Considering that the kinetic energy of an asteroid hitting the ground is calculated as

Kinetic Energy = (1/2)MV^2

Where:

M is the mass of the asteroid just before it strikes the earth

V is the velocity of the asteroid just before it strikes the earth

Same for the moon.

I'm not the best at the mathematics of this but consider an asteroid that is one kilometer in diameter and weighs 1.4 billion tonnes (M = 1.4×10^12 kilograms), and is traveling at 20 kilometers per second (V = 20,000 m/s). The kinetic energy would be equal to (1/2)×1.4×10^12×(20,000)^2 = 2.8×10^20 Joules. Consider that the explosion of a 1 megaton nuclear bomb is equivalent to 4.18 x 10^15 joules.

For an airbus A380 with a maximum takeoff weight of 560 tonnes and moving at Mach 0.89 (89% of the speed of sound), the kinetic energy of the Airbus is 2.5 trillion joules.

Someone pls help my maths

OK, I agree with you.

Can you please explain to me why the meteors always fall at 90 degree angles on the moon? The craters are always circular, no trails on the ground as they impact,

The airplane on the other side, they always leave a trail for a few hundred meters.

Dude!

Who said anything about falling at 90 degrees? The crater is not dependent on the angle the rock hits. The crater is the dispersal of kinetic energy released at impact.

Meteors don't fall under 90 degrees.
They hit the ground with much higher speed than falling airplane, and they explode on impact due to high kinetic energy.

Because of the speeds they are going,
When they contact the earth, they explode.

When it goes off it will leave a circular hole, or crater.

How can meteors explode on the Moon, where their is no oxygen?

The crater should be based on the angle of impact, which will not be at 90 angle

While traveling through the space, meteoroids have pretty low temperature.
When they hit the surface, their kinetic energy converts into heat.
(When you hit piece of metal with hammer, it gets hotter, due to kinetic energy of hammer cinverted into heat. Low speed of hammer requires more than one hit.)
Objects expand at higher temperatures.
Sudden increase in temperature gives parts initial speed due to thermal expansion.
Increase in temperature is very high because speed is very high. Tens of thousands mph or more.
Combination of hit and heat breaks meteoroid into pieces and they fly all around.
They don't need oxygen / burn to explode.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Another example of explosion without burning is how Prince Rupret's Drop explodes on collision with a bullet.
(They are much more elongated compared to meteoroids.)
First the bullet explodes, and then the Drop itself.
