NASA's had long enough to realize it can't achieve much more substantial (The cold war's over and there's less meaning to claiming to have done something in space). SpaceX is still learning.

I disagree, NASA and SpaceX both want to send a crewed mission around the moon in 2018.

SpaceX so far has only launched satellites in earth orbit, and un-manned capsules to the ISS.
They are still far from matching NASA in achievements.

NASA is, at it's core, a research organization.  SpaceX is a commercial organization.

NASA wants to explore space in order to increase human knowledge and understanding.  SpaceX wants to make money off of space in order to make Elon Musk ever richer.

Pretty much this. No way SpaceX can or ever will replace NASA. They are just a contractor, just like boeing

Is it something like Blackwater being replaced by XE and the Academi?
SpaceX is not replacing NASA.

Next question!

Because it makes money from gullible people who want to believe mankind can go into space.

We can't. Ever.

Nothing to believe. The Apollo landings can be verified with a strong enough laser. Something like an observatorium would have.

Even for the high-paid criminals of NASA cum suis, space travel is an impossible challenge.

That's why they faked the whole lot.

(((Elon Musk))) is just getting a piece of the pie; more profitable than PayPal and CGI is cheap.

Why so bitter?  It isn't NASA's fault that Trump is killing all of their climate change research.

But the props are still pretty expensive.  Remember that just about all of the launches and some of the recoveries are visible by the general public.

Rockets can be launched and are costly but not hugely expensive. Used for decades already.

CGI is cheaper, and that's the preferred method.

Bitter about criminals stealing billions from innocent yet brainwashed people in "space travel" and "Global Warming" scams? Those crooks dwarf the biggest heist of history by a factor of 6 million.

I dont think most people understand how obsessive most SpaceX fans are.
go to their reddit page and you will find 1300 post from people stalking SpaceX every move just for the next launch.
There are real people not employed by the goverment or SpaceX that follow the each and every rocket more closely than you do your own child. And that is probably not an exaggeration. (Yes I also wonder what they do for a living)

If it was CGI then I would like for you to give me any one thing that you can conclusively prove is less CGI than a SpaceX rocket. There is as much evidence of SpaceX rockets as there is proof of Australia, as I have not been there (And I hear some people dispute it exists)

SpaceX and Tesla, are flash in the pan money making schemes, IMHO
Government funded and aimed at a truly elitist market. Tesla cars will be bought over by a real car maker and disappear into memory within the next 5 years. SpaceX will put on some sort of CGI show, and impress some stooges, then be bought over or somehow absorbed into NASA..  Folks getting richer, selling us the unwanted space dream.

just my thoughts.

Primarily NASA is running slow because it depends on govt money and the govt is trying to tighten its budget, and NASA is among the many programs getting shortchanged.

SpaceX and others are privately funded efforts.  Supposedly they are initial efforts at commercialize space travel or launching commercial satellites.
