NASA fell into a space race, in case you did not know.  They had to perpetuate the lies because they liked getting the money.

you are suggesting that nasa spun this globe earth lie, when the "lie" would have already existed for centuries. not to mention that if the reason for nasa perpetuating this lie was to win the space race, wouldn't that mean that Russia was already in on the lie and could have just pretended to reach the moon before us? and put there country at the forefront of scientific advancement in the late 20th century?
