Just because they kept their job through multiple administrations does not mean they were not political appointees.  What makes you say this was the case?

Because they're not part of the Executive Office. Most government jobs aren't appointed.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Because the President does not appoint them.  They are hired by the State Department.  I assume the President can have a strong influence as to who gets hired for the job if he wants to. A simple recommendation probably would help a lot during the selection process.

The people who resigned get their jobs and promotions the same way most people do.  Seniority, job performance, experience and education.

Political appointees get their jobs by being selected by the President, Vice President or agency head and generally for the agencies heads need to get approved by the Senate .

Looking at list of jobs that get politically appointed the people who resigned did not have those jobs.  In other words the people that generally keep their jobs and work for just who ever happens to be President.

The reason it is news is because it is unusual to have all of the senior members of a government agency to resign en mass regardless if they did it because they were asked to or for their own reasons.

I tried to find when this has happened before and could not. Maybe it has I just can not find any mention of it happening before.

As for draining the swamp I do not think it is effective trying to censor information being released to the public.

What is being censored? Seriously, what?

It was the undersecretary and 3 assistant secretaries that resigned.  These are all appointed by the president.

Again Trump is trying to censor information being released.  Not that he has been successful at doing it.

He put out a gag order, calls news agencies reporting facts fake news, reviewing scientific information available on government websites. He already removed any scientific data and other information about global warming from the White House website that does not support his proposed policies.

Do you not see these as ATTEMPTS to censor information?  He has been failing since he can not legally release a gag order to the press or what most government employees say during their free time.

My bad.  I somehow missed all the State Department political appointments.  I should have referred to the wiki page on the topic.

A new administration has groomed the president's website to reflect his views.

Do you think the website should include every WooWoo idea available to mankind?

That's not the way it works. You have access to alternate viewpoints. Enjoy.

Perhaps it's just that the President does not agree with you?

Climate change isn't WooWoo.  It is a well-established scientific fact.

Are you claiming you don't have access to the facts you want?

Moot point; didn't happen.

He is taking down scientific information about Climate change, he has appointed someone to head up the EPA who is a climate change denier.  He has gone on the record to say that Climate Change is a hoax.  What is your tipping point for saying he is censoring?  How far does it have to go?

That isn't what I am talking about.  What I am talking about is the troubling fact that Trump is appearing to suppress what is actually a serious environmental issue, and call it a hoax.  This is a problem.  It is not a problem for you right now, but I really want to know how far along the spectrum of suppressing and censoring the scientific facts of climate change would Trump have to go before you get alarmed?

No!!!!! Rama set!!! We were on a roll....Agreeing multiple times :(

The only "fact" is that the average temp has changed from a decade ago, and that decade changed from the previous decade and so forth... (You get the drift)

The cause.....That is not the non negotiable "fact" presented...

As for the rest of this trump is a dictator hyperbole.... That is just typical liberal nonsense, just like some conservatives were yelling obama is the Anti-Christ. Obama was a guy with different views than I, just like trump is a guy with thin skin and hyper awareness of what people think (delicate ego)...

As for his exaggerations or lies....They are simple...To save his ego, nothing sinister. I have met people like him many times, especially in business. There is actually a business acquaintance of mine who owns multiple apartment complexes, he is worth a solid 50 million free and clear. He isn't happy with that, so he always brags he is worth 200 million. Tells stupid ass white lies, tries to top you on stories etc etc...

He is a good guy, you just have to know what he will lie about. Would give someone the shirt off his back, and some things he would never lie about. It is what it is...I know where his compulsions come from, and I accept them for who he is. At times, his stories craçk me the hell up.

I would much rather have someone who I know why they lie and what they lie about, plus with it out in the open.

99.9 percent of politicians are full of shit and lie, however most of them do it for sinister reasons...Not childish ones. I will take childish all day long.

Not to mention, he is the most motivated president I have seen. His agenda seems to be OK at the moment

Though, what does this have to do with my views about trump? Or am I just typecast as an idiot now, so everything I say is dumb?

This is seriously who you send me to for "just facts"?? Come on...What the hell?

I searched him, the first thing I came up was some sort of snarky skit with him arguing with himself about some sort of nonsense...

Tried to suffer through a couple others but it was the same nonsense. All I heard was bias and an echo chamber... But to be honest, I couldn't suffer through much, it was nails on a chalkboard.

I am seriously disappointed this is where you send me for pure facts and to change my mind. If this is what you and other libs consider quality information, then we may have found a partial root cause of the issue here.

If you knew someone was keeping important facts from the public, wouldn't you be upset?

How humiliating is it to admit you can't explain your own thoughts and turn it over to some stooge on YouTube?

Not humiliating at all.  When you know there is someone with expertise you don't have, why would you pretend to know otherwise?  It is not like Climate Change is a simple issue.  How low is your self-esteem that you had to ask that?

I searched him, the first thing I came up was some sort of snarky skit with him arguing with himself about some sort of nonsense...

You didn't give it a fair shake then.  That is ok.  All of his assertions about the actual state of climate science are based on pier-reviewed science journal published papers.  The snark is at the people who think that bloggers and media outlets should trump hard science.

I see no censoring of anything by Trump.  I see plenty of liberal tears and crying babies calling him a dictator

I see a man trying to defend his position by arguing against those trying to de legitimize his position.  The media are  releasing fake news and skewed facts. The stories the media are running with are hilarious.

Trump is doing EXACTLY what he said he would do and what his voters wanted from him. And remember this is only week 1, lots more to come.

Trumps inauguration was the most viewed in history, if you take TV and online viewership into account.

So far all of Trumps actions are positive ones. The only thing I have seen I disagree on with him; is his thoughts on torture, on which he said he will not interfere with "mad dog" (no torture) Mathis on.

I am skeptical about climate change and its predictions, but think we should make an effort to scar our surroundings and atmosphere anyway. I am not against climate change, but i do think that the predictions will change and models will change with time.

However this list I present below shows that science is far from unanimous on the subject.

Scientists questioning the accuracy of IPCC climate projections

These scientists have said that it is not possible to project global climate accurately enough to justify the ranges projected for temperature and sea-level rise over the next century. They may not conclude specifically that the current IPCC projections are either too high or too low, but that the projections are likely to be inaccurate due to inadequacies of current global climate modeling.

And 94-97% of scientists who actually study climate science think climate change is happening, so that list is pretty meaningless there's a clear consensus from the people who actually know what they're talking about. You don't get to pick and choose facts.

And we can do some good old science, because people are perfectly able to create models to predict global temperature based on what we know about nature, and what we know about human influence, and see what's most in line with what we observe.

So congrats.

Jane I have seen that graph so many times just 1 more force down my throat wont hurt. Now im off outside to burn coal, bitumen, and leave my old leaded petrol V8 running for an hour.  ::)

I don't deny that human influences are causing climate change (once called global warming)
I, don't agree with the predictions of cosiquence, I believe that our planet can cope and adjust accordingly, CO2 is not our biggest enemy.  Plants thrive in rich CO2 environments, plants will grow and convert more CO2 into Oxygen. Other pathogens are a problem.

I hope you support Nuclear power and fracking for shale gas Jane, because we need energy to meet demands.

What are china doing to reduce their carbon foot print?

First off, in regards to the lists of scientists who support or don't support Anthropogenic Climate Change, they are irrelevant, it is the facts and evidence that matter, which side wholly on the side of Climate Change.

Second, re: Trump, I don't have a huge problem with many of his policies so far. I think the wall and trade tariff are not going to work out well, I think a freeze on refugees is a good thing as long as something productive is done. His approval of torture is irrelevant since it is still illegal, but I do think it shows a poor understanding of how valuable torture is. I don't like pipelines, I think he should be supporting sustainable energy because it is just the most logical thing to do. He is still petty as all get out and driving many of the stories in the media that his proponents dislike. He needs to check that and get a punchng bag if it pisses him off that his inauguration wasn't the most watched ever. It wasn't realzoomb, Obama's was. Both in terms of live, tv and streamed viewing. It's doesn't fucking matter though. Trump should stop talking about it so the media doesn't have to keep talking about how he brings it up so often it is sad. The bright side of the media shit storm is that his policy work has been more visible than any president I can remember and that is ultimately a good thing.
