rebuttle to "its a conspiracy"
« on: December 01, 2006, 09:55:19 AM »
apologies to if i missed this in the FAQ (it was pretty boring) but why the hell would the government WANT to hide the fact that the earth is flat?? what do they possibly have to gain from keeping it from us, and when the general acceptance of the RE theory came about why did higher powers decide they would go with that theory as a cover up?? what do they want to hide? nothing! this is completely stupid, and instead of someone answering this with something like "your wrong, the government are assholes" it would be interesting to see if you FE'ers can actually answer  whilst beleiving it yourself
uh, your all idiots.

Maybe the conspiracy started a very long time ago to keep information from the masses and exercise some control over them.  Over time, as new advances came about, the conspiracy was maintained.  As civilization advanced, the whole conspiracy just snowballed into what it is today.  The gov't can't very well just come out and say "Hey, we were just joking about the earth being a sphere, it's actually flat.  Sorry."

For starters who's to say the government's in on the conspiracy? They could just be being mislead in the same way as everyone else by The Conspiracy.

The Conspiracy is the oldest secrect society (un)known to man. It started because Conspirasts discovered what was underneath the Earth, for whatever reason they wanted to keep it to themselves so they started to generate the Round Earth model of the world. The Conspiracy grew in reach and power and have managed to convince the world of their fake science and Round Earth model.

ok, if the government not in on the conspiracy, surely they would have the means and wants to prove the conspiracy wrong by now. i mean its them who put people in space, etc.

How can they prove it wrong when they're not aware of it?

They act with the same lack of knowledge that all Round Earther's have.

As for putting people into space, that's never happened. Through bribes/intimidation/murder The Conspiracy have gained total control over NASA.

The Conspiracy controls NASA (and other space exploration programs) not the US government.

The fatal flaw in the conspiracy theory is that it follows the two assumptions that:
- The entire Earth is controlled by a single government
- This government has existed for as long as people have theorized that the earth was spherical

Also, NASA has only existed for a little more than half a century, a relatively insignificant period of time.

Unless you go with my model of a Conspiracy which has a secret society acting behind the governments (governments are not aware of it) that was actually responsible for perpetuating Round Earth theory.

Where are you going with this? Once the US government created NASA the Conspiracy were able to take control of it.

Yes (taken from someone else), they discovered what was on the other side of the Earth and wanted to keep it hidden.

China?

More seriously: I certainly cannot fault your creativity.

The most prominent hole in the FE theory is that Earth is subject to an entirely external set of physics. The RE theory soundly explains that the Earth operates on a law of physics that is easily applied to objects smaller, larger, near, or far to the Earth itself.

If you were not dissuaded by your beliefs, you could research some of the more easily observed phenomena associated with the RE theory, and observe them yourself.

It's highly probable that modern science operates under the assumed RE theory simply because claculations remain consistent according to it. Something as simple as predicting a meteor shower, or navigating a supposedly spherical Earth.

There are two, if I recall.

I certainly have nothing against the idea of a flat Earth, especially since It's such an easy thing to assume just by looking outside of my window. However, the RE theory also makes quite a bit of sense on a much larger scale.

For me personally to believe either one, it seems necessary to probe both theories as thoroughly as possible before taking either one to heart.

My intentions here are hardly antagonistic, merely inspective.

I don't see why. I believe that the earth is Round and I've been unsuccessfully trying to come up with an acceptable proof (on my own) rather than relying on other people's.

Not to mention that Flat Earth has loads of holes in it. It's easier to point out evidence that the Flat Earth model doesn't work than it is to provide proof that the earth is Round...unless you're skeptical scientist.

I'm not sure what you're saying here.
Are you saying that it is not necessary to question something before you believe it?

I entirely agree with this.

Although if we are to trust history and the scientific knowledge that has been passed down, then it is lucky for us that many people have spent centuries cultivating evidence to support this. In fact, people have died in doing so.

You won't know if anything is broke unless you inspect it first. This is the reason that I am no longer a Catholic.
