You know what's even MORE amazing? I live in Australia and the cloud patterns I see in the sky always match EXACTLY with the clouds shown in the images given by the satellite! These Japanese artists are like omnipresent or something!

The heavy rain is predicted to start this afternoon, but we had 90 mm till 9 am (mainly overnight) and another 17 mm in the hour since then.
There has been almost no wind, so no problems, though all the schools are closed from about Gladstone to the border.

We're fine where we are, though 91 mm in the last 8 hours, but nothing like North Queensland where some places got 1000 mm.
There has been minor flooding around Brisbane and much more serious in many places north and south.
Luckily (no really all luck) we are about 50 m above sea level and far enough above any waterways.

But the local shopping centre was taking no chances.
Just to make sure all customers could get home in the most raging seas they provided:

But we don't get the devastation the seems common along the Pacific coast of South America from earthquakes, floods and land-slides.
