Who is more pathetic? The FEs who have their beliefs and are sticking to them?  Or is it the REs who would waste their time trying to convince these fools of their mistake? (You can't argue with a fool.)

Or maybe it's the people who think they've actually been talking to real FE's this whole time, and who also manage to completely miss the entire point of the site.

Well if thats the case this site is great! I think a healthy skeptisism is important. This site takes it to the extreme which helps regular skeptisism seem more "normal".

Thank you. Great site!

I think it's great fun actually.  It's get a lot more interesting/funny folks than a handful of other forums I could mention.

I myself am earth-shape agnostic. In fact how do I know if this forum even exists? Is it a figment of my imagination?

I think that to myself from time to time.  I always come to the conclusion that it's for entertainment purposes.  Plus, I really don't HATE any of the flat Earthers.  They're cool guys and some of them do in fact have a sense of humor.  That's not bullshit or sarcasm either.

The Angry Ranting forum is more of a light teasing kinda thing lately.

Did you ever consider that there are people here with no intentions of converting the other side? I debate for the sake of debating. I just enjoy it, and I stick around here because there is always a good debate going on.

Yes, that is what I'm saying. Both sides of the debate are pathetic. You people really need to use your intellegence on something worth debating.

If debating the fundamental concepts of the physical world around is us not worth debating, what is?

I would bet a lot of people have learned quite a lot about physics from some of the posts here. I know that debating this has given me some new insights. The range of topics covered in the debate - from relativity to Newtonian gravity to electromagnetism to optics to fluid dynamics to geology - is pretty impressive, and someone who's been following these forums for a while could easily have learned something about every one of these topics. I think even Erasmus learned something about gravity he didn't know a few days ago, and he's often the one explaining concepts rather than having them explained! Even though nobody is likely to convince anybody to change their mind about the shape of the earth, the debate is still interesting and fun, and can teach you things you didn't know if you actually read the arguments being put forward.

I've learned a lot from this site too. Before, I thought that Scientologists where the most stupid people on the planet. Then I came here and saw how wrong I was.

I post mainly to try to come up with something easy, observable and hard to explain away.  When that doesn't work, I move on to the next idea.  It's all about practicing your ability.  I'm starting to see that certain things have to be accepted to allow the debate to continue.  By barring government photography, you open the discussion to purely empirical or mathematical data rather than relying on the easy proof.
Imagine, if you will, always having to go into a debate with little or no knowledge about the subject.  You'd get your ass handed to you if the other person had lots of facts and figures.  This way we can't use easy references to prove anything, unless someone's done some calculations already.  It forces the arguers to be more creative and original.
on't just believe anything.  Believe what seems right.
