Circular Reasoning
« on: June 19, 2015, 12:24:31 PM »
For reasons I still can't quite fathom, I've read this website for a while. I have observed several cases of circular reasoning, which are quintessential to the argument's continued 'validity'. Am I wrong here?
Excuse the paraphrasing, but here's an example from infinite earth theory:
"There are hidden continents. How do i know this? The earth is infinite. How do I know the earth is infinite. How do I know this? There are hidden continents." You see the problem?
Here's an example from dual earth theory, in the form that JRowe requested, so here it is:
"We cannot go to space. Why not? The ether is too thick. How do you know? Because we can't go to space."
Again, there seems to be a problem. However JRowe at least cites 'logical deductions', which I have yet to see a coherent explanation of. Have I missed something with this circularity? Or have they???
One day this argument will cease. Probably about two days after four horses of the apocalypse charge in and declare judgement day with fairies on their backs.

You were corrected on that blatant bs every single time you brought it up. Are you really going to keep lying?

Yet again, let's see if it sinks into your thick little head yet.

Aether flows from high concentrations to low: universal tendency. There is a downwards force, so there must be a low concentration within the Earth, and a high concentration outside. Therefore there is a higher concentration of aether higher up.
At what point did my reasoning rely on space travel?
Finished lying yet?

Cute, and it follows semi-logically if you think in the abstract, but one problem: you still haven't proven the existence of aether.

And he is back.
Yep, you plan on actually providing answers this time or spew more insults?

I'm not sticking around, just came to piss off logicalkiller. He's an arrogant little penguin, I see it as a duty.

Apparently both of you struggle to read. Every single question you ever asked me was answered, and is even answered in the basic dual Earth thread. Dog apparently is still struggling with the fact that aether in he dual Earth model is defined to be space, which we know exists. Your only query should be about the logical traits I assign to it, but both of those are reasonable deductions, and no one has even tried to critique them despite my repeated requests, so find a new argument. Morons.

Glad I left this place. Might come back if you'd try to actually educate yourself on my model, rather than ignoring me each and every time I answer your questions.

Tell you what Mikey, post your top up-to ten questions, I'll answer all of them before I go.

Explicitly offered to answer your questions. Did you miss that?

I insult when it's required: such as when you repeatedly and openly ignore every word I say, as you used to, and as you just did.

I have not ignored your posts.  I have asked questions, yet you always spew the insults, saying I have an inability to read, when I have quoted you then asked for clarification you have again spewed insults.  Therefore If you would like to go back through the BS you have spouted in the past and actually answer my questions from before, be my guest.  I for one will not waste my time with someone who is not worthy of it, as you have shown multiple times.  I wrote you off long before you ran away to the care bear FE friendly forum to post your nonsense without people to question your assumptions.
And that's all they are, fantasy and assumptions.

1. You can't redefine space

2. Space can't have a concentration

I have given my evidence, I have no desire to repeat myself. Go read the 'Dual Earth Theory' thread, come back when you can actually respond to my reasoning rather than assert "But you're wrong!" with all the justification of a whining toddler.

I have no problem with people questioning me. I have a problem with people ignoring me when they specifically insist I aswer them. You just asked if I was here to answer, I said I would, and you ignored that: that's one perfect example.
You could look through my past posts. I left a while ago, after all. You could see, for example, you repeatedly ignoring my corrections to your straw man. For example, my last post addressed to you, you asked about aether (a topic on which I have directed you to the model thread). You asked what asusmptions were in its properties. I answered. YOu asked the exact same question again. I answered. You asked the exact same question again. At that point I grew irritated with you, as anyone would. Indeed, if you could learn to read you could look at the 'Dual Earth Theory' thread and, guess what, tehre is a whole section on aether which lists the only properties and assumptions.

You don't get to insist that you're in the r ight, when you're clearly not.
You refused to learn a single thing about my theory. You don't get the moral high ground, when anyone who actually reads those threads could see it. Your questions have and have always been answered in the model thread. If it's too length for you. that's fine, but then you can't pretend you're not interested in learning about the model when your efsue to dedicate any time to reading about it.

Simple fact. You did not read the posts about Dual Earth Theory, you did not read my answers. You are ignorant by your own choice, and you will stay that way.

Thank you for reminding me why I left the circlejerk that is this forum. Goodbye once again. Maybe someday you'll be able to read. I am happy to answer any and all questions. I am not happy to have to constantly repeat myself.

When you feel like being intellectually honest for once, read the Dual Earth theory thread, PM me questions. I'll see, I'll respond. I am happy to educate, if you will only read and listen.

Ok done. My points still stand.

- You redefined space. You can't do that. Just as I can't redefine turtles to be "books".

- You asserted "If there is space, it follows there can be more (or less) space in a certain area." which is false.

If you want to make nonsensical claims you need to back them up with evidence.

Alright JRowe, you provided some form of logic. Ish. What I still fail to understand is why this version of space must be the correct one. What exactly is wrong with the original scientific version? Why does space need this convoluted concentration hypothesis? If ether is space, why does it behave so goddamn differently???

As I have said I read all of your posts, I asked some questions, like Dog is alluding to here with the how do you come to redefine space as something tangible that can have thickness.  We will stick to that one since you are incapable of understanding what a question is, maybe you can actually answer something for once and stop the hand waving nonsense.
