The water was very calm at that location.  The waves were only a couple inches.  Perhaps I should have emphasized on the word "about", as I didn't use a ruler, so it may have been 6 1/2 inches with 7 inches not being out of the question.  Perhaps 7 9/16?  There is the faint chance my memory is starting to go and it really was 8 inches.  In any case, it was not "many feet".

I will have to take a picture locally and compare to believe it.    I will report back.

29silhouette,   Your right hand bridge picture taken from '6 inches' does not make much sense to me.   Are you saying you were 6" above the water or the camera was 6" above the water?

Here is my picture. Taken at x24.  Taken on a bulge on a river used for swimming.  The far waves are not very big.. perhaps 6-9 inchs or less.   Picture taken from down wind side where the water was calm. Camera lens 6" above water.

Tom caught his wife in bed with a 60x spotting scope.  He's never really gotten over it.

Camera.  Well, both technically.  I was kneeling and my knees were probably 2-3" above the water.

I'm thinking about trying this shoot again with my new spotting scope (yes it goes up to 60x) and mounting system.  The camera is also modded to shoot in IR now, so I'm curious how much it will cut down on haze.
