It shocks me that you think that "literally" and "figuratively" are synonyms.  On second thought, I suppose that it doesn't.

LOL... it's funny how often sceptimatic misinterprets the meanings of so many words.  In this case, he uses a single meaning of the word "level" and ignores every other of its meanings.

Level can also mean the elevation of one specific point in space above another.  sceptimatic seems to think that level always defines a horizontal plane, or a flat plane.

Hence a term such as AMSL (above mean sea level).  This doesn't imply that the sea is perfectly level and/or horizontal of course, but poor old sceptimatic can't understand this simple fact.  Any surveyor will confirm that we can position TBMs (temporary bench marks) along the ridge of a mountain range, and each of them will be set at a specific level.  But join those points with a line, and it sure won't be "level" LOL.

AND, please explain to me why ALL other planets are round? You don't have to because I know why.
      It is IMPOSSIBLE to have a "flat" shape in space. There is a little thing called gravity. It will pull the "flat" shape back into a sphere, and if you were to walk from the center of the Earth to the "side" of the Earth, it would feel like you were walking a steeper and steeper hill until you reach the 90 degrees mark, but why wouldn't you fall? You would fall because of gravity.

Your answer would probably be, there is no such thing as "gravity".
     THEN HOW CAN THE MOON ORBIT US? HOW CAN ANYTHING ORBIT?
