Hello, I am new to the forums, but I have always been aware of the existence of the Flat Earth Society and its beliefs. I have grown up believing in a round earth and everything I've learned up to this day would seem to support that theory. However, I realize that listing all the evidence that supports a round earth model is futile because the facts tend to get lost in a sea of words and technical jargon. So instead, I will ask one question:
Why do planes fly along curved paths on a map?
If someone is able to give me a scientific answer backed up by notable sources and experiments, I will absolutely consider the flat earth model as potentially a viable model for the earth. However, I also expect this person to accept the burden of proof for their claim. The round earth model is "extremely" well established in the scientific community and appears to correctly fit all our scientific models. It is an accepted theory, like it or not, and therefore it is up to the challengers of this theory to accept the burden of proof, or to at least prove why the round earth model can't be satisfactorily demonstrated to be correct. In this case, since I am looking for specific proof of the flat earth model, it is up to a flat earth believer to accept the burden of proof.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to a thoughtful discussion.
