The need to lie about satellite communication
« on: March 23, 2014, 12:54:32 PM »
I can understand the government/military/scientists not using satellites for communication because after all, they can't and don't exist, what I don't get is why they need to generate a complex and risky lie instead of the simple truth which doesn't contradict the earth being flat. What do they gain from the lie?

My best guess would be that claiming to have satellites adds credibility to their space program claims.

Apart from the fact they provide global communications, GPS for millions, weather information and other functions as shown in the news today.

Other methods for similar systems does not exclude the above.

France, China, USA and other countries are using satellites to search the Malaysian crash and that is fake also right? One big world lie.

With all of those countries flying their satellites around such a small area, it is hard to understand why they can't find it.  Suspicious, am I right?

Small area! Are you kidding? It is the Indian ocean. When did an ocean become small. You should watch TV a little more.

From space, it is the size of a quarter.  Or, are these satellites no longer in space?

You don't know what it looks like from space. In fact you don't know what the telescope is doing or what it can do.

How high do you think those satellites are?  ???

I don't think they are at any height.

Then please justify this statement:
From space, it is the size of a quarter.

So does the doctor, pharmacist, bank manager, mechanics, lawyer and tons of people in your life. Does that mean they are all lying to you?

No doubt, some of them are.  Mechanics are known to over charge for things you did not need.  Bank managers are often in the news papers going to jail.  Same with pharmacists.  Doctors can't agree with each other on some of the most basic things.  And, don't get me started on lawyers.

People lie to each other everyday.

Of course they do but only a small amount. If you have a positive attitude you will see that there are lots more honest people than dishonest. I can't speak for the USA but in Canada honesty is a big thing.

So, if I cross the border, I can no longer lie?  Do I need to do some research to find some bad Canadian politicians or something in order for you to take your statement back?

For example. Your president can only run for two terms right. Why?

So we don't end up with a dictator.  The two term limit was set up so that we have to have someone new at least every eight years.

Partly true. He won't be a dictator he will just not be trusted. In Canada the Prime Minister just like in England can be reelected if the people trust him. See the difference?

Yes.  And when our presidency was set up, we had just gotten away from being over-watched by a king.  We did not want to ever have that happen again, so we made sure that we had a new person at least every 8 years.

This is true.  You should never fully trust in anyone.  This is why we have checks and balances in our system.

You do realize that there were no term limits at all established in the constitution originally?  This statement iscompletely ffalse as a reason why there are presidentiol term limits.  They were introduced with the 22nd amendment first introduced in 1947 and finally ratified in 1951. Just a few years after Washington's inauguration right? ::)

No, you will be able to lie.  However you won't be able to constuct straw man arguments....what will you do?

Surely it's a huge risk to run involving mobile phone companies, GPS manufacturers etc. for a very small benefit in added trust. If I told you the cure for cancer I just made also prevented you sneezing, it wouldn't be any more believable it would just let people see the lie when they sneezed.

jroa is reluctant to discuss the role of satellites in finding the lost plane.
