Problem with the sun?

Why do we see the sun going over the horizon instead of a spotlight floating away to some other part of the earth? Shouldn't we always be able to see it? And if you say "The atmoLAYER is too thick, so we can't always see the light!"  You could use an x-ray telescope or some other means of seeing the sun other than visisble light.

I like it!, but alas... you your surprisingly well done paint skills will be dismissed. You will be bombarded with tales of the mythical "perception" rules and told that the sun is so small that the further it gets it will appear to be going over the horizon, but it is not. It is just getting smaller as it goes further away.

You will soon realize that whatever can disprove FE is apparently disproven by FE... got to love the weird zeteticism of this forum.

Air isn't perfectly clear. Its full of things that absorb EM radiation. You can no more see the Sun that far away than you can see five feet in front of you within a dense fog. And no, an X-ray telescope wouldn't work. High energy EM radiation isn't magical fairy tale juice that flies through everything in the known universe. It gets absorbed as well.

See Lola, that picture of the sun set is just a perception illusion. In reality that sun is just really far away compared to you, so your mind cuts out half the sun and makes you think you are seeing it go down, when really it is just getting further away...

Doesn't it all sound like a funny joke! I know I think it does...

Anyways... The sun sets on the horizon. It doesn't float away like in the picture I drew like you would expect from a spotlight sun. How is this explained by the FE'ers who believe in the spotlight sun.

Moonlight can cause, but is not limited to: Skin cancer, cataracts, lesions, "moon burn," nearsightedness, lycanthropy, and various genetic disorders (to include homosexuality).

What am I supposed to do on an internet forum? If I can't link you to a scientific log, what can I do? Do you expect me to set up my own lab and start testing to see if I can make people gay by messing with their genetics? I notice you provided nothing as usual to counter the claim. If you think that romantic fiction is evidence, then that would definitely explain a lot about your stance on FE .  BTW, lycanthorpy is historically caused by magic and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the moon.  The full moon werewolf is a relatively modern invention by authors of fiction.

Right, the sun stays the same size from sunrise to sunset. If it was only 3000 miles above the earth it would appear to get bigger and bigger until (about) noon , where it would then start getting smaller and smaller until it disappears over the horizon.

"glare" is how the FE'ers have explained this before. If glare is a problem then use a solar filter.

No glare here:



It will still be the same size across the entire sky.
