Africa is mostly tropical.  Sure, it's home to the largest desert in the world, but obviously the majority of the people on the continent live elsewhere.  Plus Greenland is about 1/3 the size of that desert.

I know, it was an unfair comparison. Skyrim isn't that populated, I wonder what Hammerfell looks like.

To be fair, Greenland also has about 1/3 the population of the Sahara desert too.  So you may still have a point.

Play TES: Arena and Daggerfall and find out. I'm sure it's quite flat and pixelated.

They should remake Daggerfall.

But in the mean time, you can get the original Daggerfall FREE from Bethesda's official Elder Scrolls site, and you can use XL Engine to play it in a slightly more stable, better looking form.  Well, you know.  Once it's more complete.

I have Daggerfall, but I kinda hate the controls, so I never play it. Move mouse to swing weapon, srsly.

I do. No love for Antarctica. :( Also, I tried downloading Daggerfall from Bethesda once. It ragequit and crashed on me until I could take it no more. I am vanquished, shitty backwards compatibility, and I dub thee the victor.

I doubt that there's a lot of rain on it seeing as most clouds that precipitate don't go that high, if any do. And you must remember how humongously big it is, so it is probably larger than the Arctic desert.

In any case, one similarity that Skyrim and Hammerfell have is that their climates and terrains are very harsh to outsiders, and only the locals are uniquely suited to thrive in them.  That's the biggest reason why I believe that the Nords would be able to defend Skyrim the way that the Redguards defended Hammerfell.  And contrast both lands with Cyrodil, which, if you've played Oblivion, you'll recall has a fairly temperate climate and terrain mostly consisting of grasslands and forests.  Not an easy place to defend from invaders.

Yes, because everyone knows that guerilla warfare in the forest has never worked before.

Yes, because everyone knows that guerilla warfare in the forest has never worked before.

I think the point he's trying to make is more that the climate/terrain in Skyrim is far more hostile to outsiders than the fairly pleasant Cyrodil, rather than that Cyrodil is a tactically ill placed country. Think German invasion of Russia rather than German invasion of France.

Yes.  In fact, I wasn't even thinking of guerrilla warfare - although now that it's been brought up, the Imperials probably wouldn't think of that tactic or else would refuse on principle to employ it.

The great thing about guerrilla warfare is that governments and armies don't need to be involved, Falanu Hlaalu's wicked with a knife. And is also totally a necrophiliac. Shame she doesn't know about Nerastarel's house, it's like a brothel to her or something.

Also, I realise in hindsight that bringing up guerilla warfare is a weak argument. You don't win wars by fighting guerilla warfare, and unless you can be certain that the invaders will tire and go away, it's a lost cause anyway.

The guerrilla warfare wouldn't be about winning the war, it'd be about making a constant Thalmor presence in Cyrodil unfeasible. As long as the Empire itself isn't overtly behind it, they're pretty much in the clear in terms of risk of full-scale invasion and can continue to regroup with a greatly reduced risk of espionage or rebellion.

The debate ended several pages ago. The Imperial apologists gave up and scurried away.

As well they should. Fucking nationalist, racist bastards. Or are those the other guys? I forget.

Well...  Ulfric let the Dunmer stay in town regardless of the racism going on.  The stormcloaks are just butthurt because the Dunmer won't help fight the imperials.
