Damn right it's not their fight! I've never seen one reference to them getting asked.

When you first go to Windhelm there is a conversation at the gate where a Nord says to a Dunmer "why won't your people join the fight?" and the Dunmer says "It's not our fight". That question is literally asked as soon as you walk in the gate.
No but I'm guess your what? 90? Cause you just so darn mature </sarcasm>

That's weird. I never saw that. I concede your point, however I find it hard to believe that all dunmer share that attitude and that it doesn't stem from the inherent distrust of their people that most nords exhibit. Actually, that would have been a great quest and plot point: Why not have the player rally the non-Nords against the empire if you join the stormcloaks?

Has anyone tried joining the Stormcloaks as a Dunmer/Argonian yet?

I'm Dunmer and decided to join the Empire not really because of the racism involved with Ulfric's cause, but the futility and counterproductivity of his cause.  The empire isn't really oppressing the country of Skyrim at all, and only serves as a layer of protection and provides a connection for economic welfare.  Yes, the suppression of their worship of Talos is unfortunate, but as has been mentioned: the treaty betwean the Thalmor and Empire is TEMPORARY and the Empire really doesn't like it much more than the rebels of Skyrim.  Any sensible Nord I've talked to in Skyrim actually feels this way as well.  Rikke is a perfect example, though some might argue her being brainwashed or whatever.

Also, if one wants to be technical, the Empire was founded by a Dragonborn Nord--the very man/god the Nords wish to worship--and to their perspective should be the rightful ruling body over the lands.

I'm hoping the next Elder Scrolls involves the empire crushing the Thalmor!  Because fuck them!  Unless I decide to roll an Altmer, in which case fuck the empire, we are the rightful rulers of Tamriel!

I usually go in favour of the status quo in these sorts of games, but I'm thinking of either joining the storm-blokes or just going it solo. Decisions, decisions.

That reminds me, where the hell is my wildcard option? I want to conquer Windhelm with the Empire, then run through Tullius as I stand behind him and drown the Imperial soldiers in flames. I could totally rule Tamriel with a reborn Potema as my Empress. Shit would be badass. A dragonborn Nord taking over the whole of Tamriel with the power of the voice and general Nordiness, nobody's done that before!

I want a wildcard option in every quest now, too. New Vegas spoiled me. I wanna be king of the dragons too, while I'm at it.

You technically could be plotwise if not game mechanics-wise, but you would be infinitely more powerful if you just slaughtered them all and ate their souls.

Really? Would it help that much that I could detect life auras? More than three big fuck-off dragons all breathing fire and shit? Name me one shout that you'd rather have than three dragons.

And you know, there's also the minor detail that perhaps you didn't learn all of the dragon language in one game spanning a couple of months. I think there was a point about how the dragonborn can absorb knowledge from the dragon souls he absorbs. Imagine possessing the knowledge and power of hundreds, perhaps thousands of ancient magic users. Would that really be less powerful than your own personal army of what basically amounts to animals in a majority of cases?

If you can do that, why don't you absorb an entire dictionary every time you kill a dragon? The first one I ever killed used the full yol tu shul or whatever it is.

New to TES? As far as I was aware, the whole dragony-Thu'umy aspect was new in Skyrim.

I have read back as far as Daggerfall, though.

I mean you, the character, are new to being a Dragonborn. Your powers only awoke that day when you were sent out to fight the dragon. Or maybe it was when Alduin killed your captors.

Obviously he wouldn't have known about it until he killed the dragon in Whiterun. I'm sure the power was there from the start.

For all I know, I'm the Dragonborn. I just haven't killed any dragons or haphazardly absorbed one's soul.

I feel like there's going to be a war over my soul when I die. It's been promised to both Hircine and Nocturne, and Tsun said that Sovngarde eagerly awaited my death.

What does that have to do with it? In the game, you absorb zero knowledge from the dragons, just the ability to "unlock" words you already learned. Also, I just found all three words for "throw voice" and have no intention of wasting souls on it. What a waste of time.

Also, how I get pickpocket skills? I'm at 91 and don't know where to go. It's taking like five sets of training in other skills to pickpocket enough gold for one more skill point, and that's me for a level.

Seriously? I have a surplus of about thirty souls and at no point during the game I have needed to gather more souls to unlock the words I already have (except for the very first word you get from Bleak Falls Barrow).

You must simply not be adventuring enough.

I found Dragons so common an occurrence that they became a complete annoyance. I'm not sure that was the original intention but there we go. At first I thought every soul was a precious treasure and I was like "oooh!". Then I got like dozens of them and I was like "oh".
