It looks incredible so far, and not just the actual graphics, but the visuals look superb and well thought out.  The GUI is shit, but I guess I'll have to get used to it until someone implements a better one.

I think I have to start a new dude already, though, because first thing I did when I got to Riverwood or whatever was torch a chicken and the whole town started kicking my ass.  I guess no one appreciates fried chicken in skyrim.  I think I'm actually going to try a magic user this time around since it seems actually pretty cool to use (I think someone in this thread already said something to that effect).

That was annoying. I took a swing at a random chicken and proceeded to get gang raped by the entire village.

Have none of you played Zelda before. Never. Hit. Chickens!

Blanko has grinded enough to become a real man.

More like, I've grinded enough to become a demigod.

Come now, a real man doesn't need fancy shenanigans like that.

Interesting. Seeing as Hadvar/Ralof (I only tested this on Hadvar since I'm lazy) is invincible and will never aggro, he is an excellent target for destruction practice. I assume that you could exit Helgen with a destruction skill of 100 if you're feeling particularly sadistic.

Shut it, wench! This is a roleplaying game! If I want to be a master wizard from the start, I damn well shall play as a master wizard!

A friend of mine got this game. I watched him kill giant spiders in a cave for 30 minutes. I don't understand the appeal.

That's obviously because he was wasting time killing giant spiders in a cave for 30 minutes instead of doing something interesting.

Maybe he chose to show the most boring part of the game to keep his friend from wanting to play on his system.

Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my legendary dragonplate armour.

It took him 30 minutes to clear a cave of spiders?

About two thirds through, I think. There's an entire act after that about SPOILERS getting to Alduin in Sovngarde and killing him there, which is like five more quests after you've defeated Alduin for the first time after getting the Elder Scroll. END OF SPOILERS

That said, the main quest in total is actually pretty short - you can probably beat it in ten hours with ease.

I'm going to side with the imperials for my first playthrough. I've done it in the two other games, so why would I stop now? Granted, it was either the empire or the world gets eaten by eldritch horrors from the other side of The Veil, but still. This game has a dragon you can kill. Right?

I'm siding with the imperials as well. The Stormcloaks seem to be more concerned with their silly nationalistic (and apparently also racial) ideals than building a solid civilization. The only real issue I have with the Empire is their submission to Thalmor, but hey, I can handle the Thalmor by myself.

Huh. I've spent most of my time leveling smithing, killing dragons and doing side quests. I was hoping it would be a bit longer.

I sided with the empire and finished that chain, for the same reasons Blanko mentioned. The Winterhold magic college quest chain was much better than the imperial one.

It arrived late yesterday cause FedEx always puts me last.

I can only play thirty minutes at the time; any more and I start to have motion sickness.  Stupid, silly me.  Same thing happened with Fallout.  It 'll take me about three days to become immune.

The music isn't as good as Oblivion but the combat is much, much improved. The npc interaction is improved but not as much as I'd hoped. The leveling looks good so far without all that number crunching.  The screen titling sacrifices readability for prettiness.  Overall, the Skyrim world seems a little overly dreary; I'd like a bit more landscape loverliness.  My wood elf can't hit the backside of a barn with her dumb bow mainly because the crosshairs sometimes disappear against the background.

I am constantly expecting to meet Mugsy just around the next corner.  :)

Are you kidding me? I thought Skyrim improved MASSIVELY on the music; battle music is now actually exhilarating, calm music actually feels calm, and the city music in general is far better than anything you can hear in Oblivion.

I think Skyrim's music is even better than Morrowind's, which was already much better than Oblivion's music.

Some of the music in Skyrim is almost exactly like the music in Oblivion in places. I liked the music in all three.

Yep. Some music is the same, but with a slightly different instrumentation I think.

I hear ya.  8)  I always had the number advantage in Oblivion cause I had the patience to pay very close attention. I could  knock the game play bar way up in the higher levels.  I may have to give up that notion in Skyrim.

It's the monotony of some of it that I found irritating.  Maybe it will get better as I start doing more than just wandering around...Also, I was seasick.  ;D

Sometimes FPS can make me 'seasick' (particularly Halo). Does switching to third person not help, Peach?

It's getting better.  I can now play for an hour before I have to quit.  I'm slightly nearsighted so maybe that's the cause and being in third person does help.  Thanks.

Oblivion's music is pretty nice.  Also I noticed one of the Morrowind songs while I was in Whiterun last night.  It was playing for a bit before I realized HAY I HEARD THAT BEFORE!  But yeah its good.  I'm impressed with the dungeons I've been in so far.  Bleak Falls was actually pretty creepy, which was a nice change from Oblivion's "EVERYTHING LOOKS THE SAME LOL," though I expect that more dungeons will look similar as I visit more.

Plans now are to do my trial quest for the companions, head to the Greybeards, and then go to that town with the mage college because I need some new ways to kill shit.

Also, does anyone know if being a bard is possible?  Dude in Whiterun told me there's an artisan college in one of the towns where he was taught.

I never noticed too many similarities in the cave designs.

Except that they all went down, of course.
