Does the earth rotate in the FE theory? If not why do cannons have to shoot to the right or left of there target to make up for the earths spin?

wth does that mean dude? they aim there guns (well they did back when they used large cannons) to make up for the rotation of the earth.

So are you saying that the guns were purposely flawed to hide the fact that the earth is flat?

Let's have an example here.
kevin can't pee in the bowl. is he can't aim? NO. it's cuz of earth's spin.

so why don't we all get TOILET COVERS to make up for the EARTH'S SPIN, because friggin KEVIN could point his friggin hose up in the AIR and pee all over the CEILING because EARTH'S SPIN makes it so that the PEE just randomly FLIES UP, that's all.

... human error, dude. human error.

are you an imigrant or something because i cant understand you hardly.

IF you're saying that kevin doesnt need to adjust his aim to piss in the toilet, you're right, because he is 6 inches away from the toilet. You're not making sense man.

okay man.

make fun of my beliefs as a FE believer, fine.

but to make fun of my COUNTRY?

... you've dishonored my native country! If i could, I would slap you with a trout! >:[

I think it is you that makes no sense, soldier. I'm saying if kevin pisses and he misses the toilet, you'll say it's the earth's spin that makes it so, because apparently he has to adjust to the right/left in order to make up for it.

omg dude i didnt make fun of your country sorry

wtf i didnt say that at all. If he misses something right next to him its his fault. if its 100 miles away and goes way left everytime its because the target has moved substantially.

What the hell does it matter! Its an example pretend he could or pretend its some other object that could, it makes no difference.

Navy ships used to have to aim their huges cannons way left every time (or right not sure) of the target in order to get a direct hit

gfxu are you seriously mentally retarded!?

Ok an navy gun ship can fire over 30 miles ok? Please...

and rick, Its a known fact I dont know what else to say about it other than Ive watched documentaries in history class. Im sorry there isnt anything I could find about earths rotation and gun ship aiming. I guess because I couldnt find anything about it not being true you cant say it isnt

ok after seeing gfxus last post im done arguing with you people, you obviously dont have the capacity to comprehend simple statements.

I hope that you can see I was trying to have a rational discussion with you about this. having never heard of this before (aim adjustment due to earth's rotation) I was hopinh you might have a link handy.

Yea gxfu is being a bit dumb (although amusing), but hopefully you can ignore those posts and continue the discussion.

But Comradical is getting a bit angry, and I do want to continue this discussion, so I tried to re-assure him.

Um... excuse me guys... -.-

But there's a very logical explanation to all this: the earth IS flat. It's just tilted.

Have you ever tried rolling a marble across a slanted surface? It doesn't go straight, I tell you that. :O

Yeah, projectiles from a cannon don't tend to roll along the ground, they tend to fly through the air.

Oh, that's a good point.

However, the earth is also moving through space. So like in the experiment where a man on a tall moving boat drops something, the object doesn't fall in a straight line to the water. It falls in more like a half-parabola due to inertia and momentum and all that good stuff. Therefore, the cannonball moves sideways because the earth is moving in that direction.

THEREFORE, they need to aim to the left or right or whatever.

That's a better point. Although we'll need Dogplatter or Engineer to run their eye over it before it's an official refuted point :D Hopefully Comradical comes back seeing as we have some alternate arguments  and some more numbers for the discussion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriolis_force

Read what the Coriolis force is, then skip to the section on ballistics. This is a basic aspect of ballistics: adjusting for the Coriolis Force caused by Earth's rotation.

Basically, a spinning body exerts a "force" (like centrifugal force, the Coriolois force is not truly a force, merely a by-product of intertia) that causes the paths of objects on the spinning body to be deflected. In ballistics, to aim a projectile at a target a few miles or more away, you must adjust for this effect- i.e., not aim exactly at your target, but shift your aim in one direction to correct the effect. The coriolis effect is also responsible for the direction in which tornados spin.

Hmm - makes sense (of course) I guess I never really thought the Earth was spinning fast enough to need to adjust your aim (etc). Very interesting.
